2011 MAC Football Predictions and Free Picks – Odds to Win 2011 Mid-American Conference Football Championship

2011 Mid-American Conference Football Odds, Free Picks and Expert Predictions – MAC Championship Vegas Odds and Vegas Betting Lines: Las Vegas oddsmakers have posted the preseason odds to win the 2011 Mid-American Conference College Football Championship and they are now out and posted LIVE on NSAwins.com and vegas linemakers have installed Northern Illinois the +200 favorite to win the 2011 Mid-American Conference College Football Conference Championship with Ohio and Temple the +200 favorites to win the MAC East Division and Northern Illinois the +150 favorite to win the MAC West Division.

The MAC has built quite a reputation in recent years as one of the more dangerous non-BCS conferences. Countless teams from major conferences have fallen victim to MAC schools, and even national title hopefuls have had their chances dashed by schools from the Mid American Conference. The conference has produced plenty of NFL prospects, and in the last six years, 12 different schools have gone to bowl games.

As for the conference itself, it has been very unpredictable recently. The East and West divisions have alternated being the dominant factions. Eight different teams have participated in the last six title games, and schools have jumped up and down the standings on a regular basis. The MAC figures to be wide open again in 2011-12.

The Favorites – 2011 Mid-American Conference Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

The Northern Illinois Huskies have an absolutely loaded offense returning in 2011-12. Starting quarterback Chandler Harnish is back after throwing for more than 2,500 yards and running for almost 1,000 as well. His top three options at wide receiver are back in the mix as well. Not to mention the fact that the entire offensive line returns. The Huskies should have the best offense in the MAC, and they should be able to win the conference this year on the strength of their offense.

Last season, the Miami RedHawks came out of nowhere to deliver a 10-win season and win the conference title. With 17 starters back from last year’s team, it only makes sense that the RedHawks end up in the mix for the 2011-12 MAC crown as well. At the very least, Miami should be able to win the MAC East and approach another double-digit win total.

Potential Sleepers – 2011 Mid-American Conference Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

With nine starters back on both sides of the ball, the Toledo Rockets could make a serious run at both the MAC West title and the conference title in general. While the quarterback position is still up in the air, the Rockets’ top playmaker Adonis Thomas is back in the fold, coming off a 99-catch season. Three starters return on both the offensive and defensive line, and all four members of the secondary are back. Experience alone should push Toledo toward the top of the standings, and out-of-conference games against Boise State and Ohio State should get the Rockets ready for conference action.

After going 6-2 in the conference last season, the Ohio Bobcats could end up winning the MAC East thanks in part to a favorable schedule. The Bobcats will be looking for a new QB, but having the entire offensive line return will definitely help the new signal caller. The defensive front needs to be retooled, but the secondary is stacked. The fact that the Bobcats avoid Northern Illinois and Toledo in conference play could pave the way for a trip to the MAC Championship Game.

Team to Avoid – 2011 Mid-American Conference Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

If not for a win in the 2010-11 season finale, Akron would have gone winless last season. The Zips do have a few solid players on defense, along with an experienced secondary, but the offense remains more or less a train wreck. Out-of-conference games against Ohio State and Cincinnati could get ugly, and conference play doesn’t figure to be much better. The good news is that it doesn’t take much to improve on a 1-11 record.
