Early College Football Odds and Lines for Sept 17-19 – Texas -18 Favorite vs Texas Tech

texas-longhornsNSAwins.com has posted the early Week 3 College Football Odds and Lines for NCAA Football betting this Thursday, September 17th thru Saturday, September 19th. One of this week’s top games has the Texas Longhorns welcoming the Texas Tech Red Raiders into Austin for the Big 12 opener for both clubs. The Longhorns will be looking to get some revenge for last season’s heartbreaking 39-33 loss down in Lubbock, as the Red Raiders knocked the Longhorns from the Big 12 Championship game by stealing a victory in the last minute when Michael Crabtree scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the game. The linemakers have made the Longhorns a -18 favorite this saturday in a game that will air nationally at 8PM EST on ABC. Another game of note for this week’s College Football action on Saturday, September 19th has the #1 ranked Florida Gators opening up their SEC schedule at home down in the Swamp versus Tennessee. The Gators have been installed as a huge -29.5 favorite for this matchup, as oddsmakers must feel the Gators will want to bring it strong against the Vol’s after UT’s new head coach Lane Kiffin was popping off in the offseason about singing “Rocky Top” down in the Swamp. Expect Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow, and the boys to be ready to roll this week. 2009 Pep Boys 500 Odds – Jimmie Johnson the 4/1 Favorite

jimmie-johnsonNSAwins.com has posted the NASCAR 2009 Pep Boys 500 Odds for Saturday’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA. Vegas oddsmakers have installed Jimmie Johnson as the 4/1(+400) favorite to win the race, while Kyle Busch and Mark Martin both have the next best odds to win the event at 6.5/1(+650). Saturday’s race is the second to last chance for drivers to earn points for the Chase for the Championship, which only the top 12 drivers in the season standings will qualify. Johnson is the three-time defending Chase champ and currently sits second in the overall standings after an 8th place finish in the Sharpie 500 a couple weeks ago. Johnson has been dominant in Atlanta, as he has finished in the top 10 in 10 of his last 12 races there and has taken the checkered flag in three of those races. Overall points leader Tony Stewart is listed as a 7.5/1(+750) favorite to win the 2009 Pep Boys 500, but seems to not be interested in winning events recently with his dissapointing 17th and 33rd place finishes recently after cementing his place in the Chase a few weeks ago. NSAwins.com’s official prediction for the 2009 Pep Boys 500 is for Jimmie Johnson to take home the Championship. 2009 NFL Rookie of the Year Odds – Knowshon Moreno, Mark Sanchez, Aarron Curry the Favorites

mark-sanchezNSAwins.com has posted the 2009 NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year odds and vegas oddsmakers have installed Denver Running Back Knowshon Moreno(3/1 odds) and Seattle Seahawks Linebacker Aaron Curry(9/2 odds) the favorites to win the offensive and defensive ROY honors. Moreno, who was the #12 player selected overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, will be looked upon by new Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels to carry the load this season. With the departure of Jay Cutler to Chicago in the offseason and the recent suspension of Broncos star wide receiver Brandon Marashall this week, Moreno should be the focal point of the Broncos offensive attack this season. Mark Sanchez(9/2 odds), who was the #5 player selected overall in the NFL draft, was named the Jets starting quarterback this week by Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Sanchez has had his good and bad moments thus far in NFL preseason, but has the talent on offense and defense to help him lead the Jets to a possible playoff berth this season. Curry, who was the #4 player selected overall in the 2009 NFL draft, will be the starting strongside linebacker for the Seahawks this season. Curry was arguably the most talented player overall in last year’s draft and should have an excellent season playing in the revamped Seahawks defense under new head coach Jim Mora Jr. NSAwins.com’s official 2009 NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year predictions are for Sanchez and Curry to win the awards. While Moreno should put up impressive numbers running in Denver, we have to give the nod to Sanchez who should help the Jets win more games than Moreno will win in Denver and that should give him the edge come voting time. Curry should easily win the Defensive ROY award, as we expect huge numbers from the stud linebacker out west. Marquez vs Mayweather Jr Odds – Mayweather Jr the Heavy Favorite

US-MAYWEATHER-MARQUEZNSAwins.com has posted the early boxing odds for the Juan Manuel Marquez vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. welterweight showdown on September 19, 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Vegas oddsmakers have made Mayweather Jr(39-0, 25 KO’s) the 2/9(-450) favorite to win the boxing match and the over/under on total rounds is set at 11.5(Over -145, Under +115).

The fight will air live on HBO pay-per-view and was originally suppossed to take place on July 18, but had to be postponed because Mayweather suffered a rib injury while training for the fight. The fight will mark the return to the ring for Mayweather Jr, who retired over 18 months ago before having a change of heart and deciding to return to the ring. Before he left, Mayweather Jr was considered by many boxing experts to be the sport’s mythical “pound for pound” champion. That title now goes to Manny Pacquiao in the eyes of many boxing fans and pundits.

Marquez(50-4-1, 37 KO’s), who is a 5-time champion in three weight divisions, looks to add his name into the “pound for pound” debate with a win over Mayweather Jr. Marquez is hailed as “Numero Uno” in his native Mexico and will look to give his native country and his fans something to cheer about on the September 19 fight night, which happens to take place in conjunction with Mexico’s “Independence Day”. In February, Marquez defeated lightweight champion Juan Diaz in an action packed fight full of brutality. But he probably earned the most respect from boxing fans and observers in his two fights against Pacquiao, dropping a close decision in their rematch in 2008 after boxing him to a draw in 2004.

Mayweather announced his comeback on the morning of the May 2 match between Hatton and Pacquiao. Since that announcement, many talking heads in boxing circles have criticized Mayweather for dodging the #1 pound-for-pound champ, Pacquiao, and choosing to fight Marquez in his return debut.

“Mayweather could have fought Manny Pacquiao. He just had to wait one day,” said Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, talking at the press conference after Pacquiao’s punishing one-punch knockout of Hatton.

“I think he’s scared of Pacquiao because he chose Marquez. But we’re not going to wait around. I like to keep Manny busy. A busy fighter is a good fighter. I’d like to get a fight in November or December and we’re not going to wait around for anybody. If (Miguel) Cotto wants to come down a few pounds, we can make it happen. If Shane Mosley wants to come down a few pounds, we can make that happen.”

Mayweather, a 6-time world champion in five weight classes, says he’s not side stepping anyone but says he deserves the right to choose his opponents after putting in his dues over the last 11 years—10 as a world champ.

SATURDAY 9/19/09 UPDATE: NSAwins.com’s expert Boxing Handicapper The LEGEND has offiered the following predictions for tonight’s BIG FIGHT:
