Free MLB Picks and Odds: Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox Favorite, Moneyline, Total and Predictions 6/3/11: The Detroit Tigers have recently wrapped up an impressive month of May and now will enter June with the Cleveland Indians in sight. From the get-go, the Tigers were sluggish and significantly were under performing on a daily basis. They lacked the offensive explosiveness as in years past and the pitching rotation, along with Justin Verlander, was not putting forth their best efforts. Skip forward to present day and the offensive is showing up on a nightly basis and the pitching rotation is rounding itself into a fierce and formidable bunch. Already with one no-hitter in the mix, the Tigers pitching staff is in the upper echelon of units in the league in terms of quality outings and strike-outs. They do not boast hard, aggressive pitchers, but rather an allotment of pitchers who can locate their spots and put the ball there in deceptive ways.
After a horrendous weekend north of the border last week, the Chicago White Sox may be the hottest club in baseball right now. They are coming off a momentous sweeping of the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park and now will enter into a huge weekend series with their rival in the Detroit Tigers. The White Sox led an aerial assault on the Red Sox in their early week series by pounding out 7 home runs and had over 25 hits in the three game set. The offensive production may be a direct result of their head coaches’ public outcry following the let down in Toronto. Ozzie Guillen called out his offense for their ineptness in the clutch and said that changes would be made if things did not turn for the better. Boston was assaulted by the entire batting order of the White Sox and not one hitter left bean town without recording at least one hit. The lead in the AL Central may be far off at this point but if the White Sox can exert their will, like they did in Boston, then the sky is the limit for this bunch. They boast the potential for 4 or 5 batters hitting over .300 and their pitching rotation has the capability of being top ten in the league.
We will recommend a play on the Detroit Tigers(Check latest lines at BetGuardian Sportsbook) to open up this mega American League Central weekend series. The Tigers have been playing some solid, consistent ball for some time now and they are staying competitive in the majority of the affairs they play. Miguel Cabrera is arguably the most dangerous hitter in the league not named Bautista and he seems to be heating up in the past few weeks. Jim Leyland will send lefty Andrew Oliver to the mound tonight in hopes that he can earn his first victory of the season. Oliver will need to have a solid outing tonight to avert the risk of being sent back down when Phil Coke returns from the disabled list. He performed admirably in his first start of the season in Boston but failed to pick up the win, he gave up 3 earned runs on 5 hits. He is a shifty south paw and uses a wide array of top notch pitches; his only issue seems to be coming out of the gates hot. The White Sox saw a couple of lefties in their series in Toronto and it proved to be a horrendous offensive meltdown. The Sox hitters were unable to locate the balls and on several occasions they were caught swinging way too early. The White Sox have not played at home in over two weeks and as the old sports cliché goes, ‘the hardest game to win is the first game back’. Detroit is 5-0 SU in their last 5 games when playing Chi White Sox and is 5-0 SU in their last 5 games when playing on the road against the windy city bunch. We will consider the Tigers opening up the weekend series here with a hard earned victory. Cheers!
