The following rankings are compiled by taking the Top 25 votes sent to us from NSAwins.com’s Sports Handicapping Experts(The LEGEND, Gerry “BIG CAT” Andino, Lou Panelli, Steve “SCOOP” Kendall, and William E. Stockton), as well as from NSAwins.com’s “FINAL SCORE REPORT” blog’s founders and contributing authors(Stephen G. and David E.). These rankings will be updated every monday throughout the College Football regular season and after the completion of the Bowl Season. Please keep in mind that these power rankings are based on current records and performances and not a prediction on how we think teams will end up at the end of the season or how two teams would fare if they played one another. The Florida Gators and Tim Tebow are NSAwins.com’s official predictions to win the 2010 BCS Championship and Heisman Trophy as we head into the season, but we may feel differently once the season progresses and other teams and players step their games up. Anyway, below is the official preseason College Football Top 25 power rankings from NSAwins.com. Enjoy.

NSAwins.com’s Preseason College Football Top 25

RK, LW, TEAM, RECORD
#1 – Florida Gators 0-0 Easy schedule, Urban Meyer, plus Tim Tebow. What else do they need? The Gators are the favorite.
#2 – Texas Longhorns 0-0 Colt McCoy and the Horns are on a mission after last season’s Big 12 Championship snub.
#3 – Oklahoma Sooners 0-0 Sam Bradford is back, but the o-line is unproven and Stoops has to prove he can be “Big Game Bob” once again after going 0-5 last 5 BCS bowl appearances.
#4 – LSU Tigers 0-0 The Tigers defense was atrocious last season. Gave up 30 plus points 5 times. Things will be different in 2009 under new defensive coordinator John Chavis. The Tigers defense should be vastly improved.
#5 – USC Trojans 0-0 Pete Carroll’s coaching will be tested this season as USC will start freshman QB Matt Barkley. However, reports out of LA say the kid is the REAL DEAL and the Trojans are loaded elsewhere. Expect USC to be in the BCS Title game hunt all season.
#6 – Alabama Crimson Tide 0-0 The Tide will be a work in progress offensively, but the defense should be stout from the get go. Nick Saban is probably a year away from really making a run at the SEC and BCS titles, but the Tide have the ability to play in another BCS bowl game this season.
#7 – Ohio St Buckeyes 0-0 We’ll find out just how good the Buckeyes and Trojans are on September 12th when they matchup in Colombus. Sophomore QB Terrelle Pryor is a stud and should find his name in the Heisman mix all season long.
#8 – Virginia Tech Hokies 0-0 15 starters return for head coach Frank Beamer from a 10-4 team last season. The Hokies are once again the class of the ACC and get much respect from NSAwins.com for playing a tough non-league schedule(Alabama(neutral), Nebraska, at East Carolina).
#9 – TCU Horned Frogs 0-0 Gary Patterson might be the most underrated head coach in the nation and the TCU program might be the most unappreciated football program in the nation. TCU las led the nation in total defense three times since 2000. TCU very well could be this season’s Utah and run the table from the Mountain West.
#10 – Boise St Broncos 0-0 Sophomore QB Kellen Morre returns after throwing for 25 TD’s as a freshman. Boise St kicks off the season at home versus Oregon so we will find out early just how good Boise St and Oregon both are.
#11 – Oklahoma St Cowboys 0-0 14 starters return from a 9-4 outfit last season. The Cowboys kick off the season against Georgia, play at home vs Texas(10/31), and at Oklahoma(11/28). If they win 2 of the 3, than we could be talking about a BCS team. Keep an eye on Mike Gundy’s crew this season.
#12 – Penn St Nittany Lions 0-0 If Joe Paterno’s team wants to get taken seriously, than they need to play a better non-league slate. The 2009 cast of Akron, Syracuse, Temple, and Eastern Illionis is embarassing. Having said that, Penn St is talented and should duke it out with Ohio St for the league title.
#13 – Florida St Seminoles 0-0 The Noles are still far away from their 90′s heyday when they were annually a Top 5 team, but they are ready to make a jump in 2009 and be a bonafide Top 15 club. The talent is there and they could possibly be 8-0 heading into November if they can win at BYU(9/19) and at North Carolina(10/22).
#14 – Georgia Bulldogs 0-0 13 starters return to Athens from a team that went 10-3 last season. The only problem is the NFL Draft’s #1 pick(Matthew Stafford) isn’t among them. However, 5th senior Joe Cox should fill in well and Mark Richt’s crew should once again find itself in the double digit win column.
#15 – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 0-0 Paul Johnson’s debut season in Atlanta was a huge success, as the Jackets went 9-4 overall and beat rival Georgia to snap a seven-game skid to their top rival. 17 starters return for 2009 including stud RB Jonathan Dwyer.
#16 – Mississippi Rebels 0-0 Houston Nutt’s debut season in Oxford was a smashing success, as the Rebels shocked the Gators in Gainesville and crushed an 11-1 Texas Tech team in the Cotton Bowl. 14 starters return in 2009, but the Rebels won’t be able to sneak up on anyone this season.
#17 – California Bears 0-0 Keep an eye on Cal running back Jahvid Best this season as a potential Heisman Trophy darkhorse pick. Best was 2nd in the nation last season in all-purposes yards and should win Pac 10 offensive player of the year.
#18 – Oregon Ducks 0-0 The Ducks have their hands full in September, as they play at Boise St(9/3), at home versus Purdue(9/12), at home versus Utah(9/19), and at home versus Cal(9/26). If somehow they can win all 4, than the Ducks will find themselves in the Top 10 by November.
#19 – Utah Utes 0-0 11 starters return from the 2008 team that shocked the nation by going undefeated and finishing #2 in the final national polls. Going undefeated in 2009 will be tough do, however, as the Utes have away games at Oregon(9/19), at TCU(11/14), and at BYU(11/28).
#20 – North Carolina Tar Heels 0-0 Butch Davis is on the cusp of turning the Tar Heels program into a perennial ACC title contender. The Heels went 8-5 last season, but 4 of the 5 losses were by 3 or fewer points. With 15 starters returning in 2009, look for the Heels to turn a couple of them losses into wins this go around.
#21 – BYU Cougars 0-0 BYU QB Max Hall returns to lead the Cougars in 2009 after throwing for 3,957 yards and 35 TD’s last season. The Cougars return 12 starters from last seaon’s 10-3 team and should be in the mix with TCU and Utah to take the Mountain West crown this season.
#22 – Nebraska Cornhuskers 0-0 The Cornhuskers found the right man for the job in head coach Bo Pelini. Pelini’s debut season in Lincoln produced a 9-4 record and a renewed sense of pride among previously disenchanted Nebraska fans and alumni. Expect big things in the future out of this storied program under Pelini.
#23 – Kansas Jayhawks 0-0 The Jayhawks struggled last season against the heavyweights of the Big 12 conference and eventually wound up finishing with an 8-5 record. That’s a far cry from their 11-1 record and BCS berth team of 2007. What will the 2009 team produce? Probably something in the middle.
#24 – Iowa Hawkeyes 0-0 Iowa went 9-4 in 2008, but lost 4 games by a combined 12 points. Expect the Hawkeyes to be rock solid once again in 2009 and win 8-9 games, but road trips at Penn St and at Ohio St will be too tough to overcome for us to consider Iowa a legitemate Big 10 championship contender.
#25 – Pittsburgh Panthers 0-0 The Big East is wide open and the Panthers should have the inside track at the league title. The defense should be the best in the Big East and the schedule lines up well with only 5 road games that are all winnable.

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, who won the award in 2007 and lead’s the nation’s preseason #1 team and defending national champion, is the early 2/1(+200) favorite to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy. Tebow will be looking to go down as arguably College Football’s all-time best player if he wins the 2009 Heisman award and captures his 3rd national championship, as no other player in College Football history would be able to stake claim to 3 national championships to go along with multiple Heisman’s. The winner of the 2008 Heisman Trophy, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, has been installed as a 5/2(+250) favorite to capture another Heisman Trophy this season. Bradford, who’s Sooners lost to Tebow’s Gators in the 2009 BCS National Championship Game, leads the nation’s preseason #3 ranked team this season and could have been the #1 player drafted in the NFL draft had he decided to turn pro and not come back for his juinor season in Norman. Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, who leads the nation’s preseason #2 team(USA Today Poll), has been given 3/1(+300) odds by vegas linemakers to win the Heisman. McCoy was runner-up for the award last season and led the entire nation in quarterback rating(173.75) and was considered by many pundits to be the nation’s most efficient quarterback last season. NSAwins.com’s official prediction to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy is Tim Tebow. The Gators are the defending national champions and will be gunning for their 3rd BCS Championship in the last 4 years and the 4th overall for the Gators program. The Gators are ranked #1 in the USA Today College Football Rankings released last week and are led by returning senior QB Tim Tebow, who is the frontrunner to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy(see Heisman Trophy 2009 Odds). If the Gators are to get back to the title game in Pasadena, CA at the Rose Bowl on Januray 7, 2010, than they might have to matchup with Bob Stoops and his Oklahoma Sooners in a rematch of last season’s title game. The Sooners have been given 5.5/1(+550) odds to win the College Football BCS Championship this season and have a talented group of players returning from last season’s roster, including 2008 Heisman Trophy winner QB Sam Bradford. Oklahoma is #3 in the preseason USA Today College Football Poll and will have it’s hands full in the Big 12 Conference, as the #2 team in the preseason poll is Mack Brown’s Texas Longhorns. Texas is led by another strong Heisman candidate in returning QB Colt McCoy, who is an outstanding talent and NSAwins.com’s handicapping expert William E. Sockton’s choice to win the Heisman this season. The Longhorns have been given 6/1(+600) odds to capture the BCS National Championship this season by vegas oddsmakers. NSAwins.com’s official preseason prediction for the 2010 BCS National Championship game is Florida vs Texas with the Gators prevailing to capture yet another national championship for Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow.

The college season is about to begin and all eyes are on the SEC as they usually produce one half of the national championship game. Last year, Alabama had a great regular season and was within one quarter of winning the SEC title game against Florida. Of course, we all know that Florida took control in the 4th quarter and won going away 31-20. From there, Florida went on to win the national title and the Crimson Tide got embarrassed in their bowl game against Utah 31-17. So, has Alabama improved to the point where they can get past Florida, their likely opponent in this year’s SEC title game? Well if you want any chance of beating Tebow and crew, you had better be able to score.

Alabama is returning most of their defensive starters from last year, so defense should hold up their end of the bargain. But don’t forget they gave up 31 points in each of their last 2 games to end the season and Nick Saban has been steaming ever since. To call Saban intense is to call Charlie Weis a little chubby, so I look for him to get that corrected. Whether he can improve the offense enough is the question. Last year, they had a good running offense, but were very ordinary in the passing game when the run game was stopped. Their projected starter is Greg McElroy and early reports say he is much more athletic than the departed John Parker Wilson. Folks, all that tells me is the guy can’t throw…. The other problem on offense is they lost their best two lineman and are replaced by untested players.

Their schedule is somewhat easy as SEC schedules go and if they can get by Virginia Tech in Atlanta in their opener, their only road challenge will come at Ole Miss on Oct. 10th. If they survive that, the only hurdle to getting to the title game again is when LSU travels to Tuscaloosa on Nov. 7th. I think if they get to the title game and another bowl game, they will have a successful season. National championship aspirations will have to wait….

The Gators, fresh off of their 2nd national championship in 3 years, are the heavy chalk to win the East at 1/13 odds(-1300). Urban Meyer’s crew, led by 2009 Heisman favorite Tim Tebow at quarterback, are the favorite to win the national title once again and for good reason….the team is loaded on both sides of the ball. The team with the next best odds to win the East is Mark Richt’s Georgia Bulldogs at 5/1(+525). If Meyer’s Gators do make the SEC Title game like everyone expects, than they just might get themselves a rematch with Nick Saban’s boys from Alabama. The Crimson Tide are listed as 1.5/1(+155) favorites to win the SEC West for the 2nd staight year, but as Lee Corso from ESPN likes to say…..not so fast my friends. The Crimson Tide should be the favorites, but LSU(1.5/1 +175) and Ole Miss(1.5/1, +175) both have strong squads and should make the race in the West divison very interesting. NSAwins.com’s official picks to make the SEC Title game this season are Florida and Alabama again, as we simply have too much respect for Urban Meyer and Nick Saban’s coaching abilities and their teams’ talent to go with anyone else. Below are all of this season’s 2009 SEC Divison Odds from NSAwins.com:

ODDS TO WIN THE SEC EAST DIVISION
Florida 1/13(-1300)
Georgia 5/1(+525)
Kentucky 18/1(+1800)
South Carolina 7/1(+725)
Tennessee 8.5/1(+850)
Vanderbilt 17.5/1(+1750)

ODDS TO WIN THE SEC WEST DIVISION
Alabama 1.5/1(+155)
Arkansas 6/1(+600)
Auburn 6/1(+600)
LSU 1.5/1(+175)
Mississippi 1.5/1(+175)
Mississippi State 17.5/1(+1750)

The 2009 College Football season begins this month and it’s time to make my official College Football predictions for the national title and Heisman Trophy. Let’s not waste any more time and cut right to the chase. The national champion is a flat out no-brainer. You can hand the hardware right now to the University of Florida and the games’s best head coach, Urban Meyer. Sorry, folks, but if you’re favorite team is not named the Gators than you have no shot at winning it all, unless a serious injury takes place to Tim Tebow. The Gators are stacked(and, no, I am not a Gator grad lol)! The Heisman Trophy will be a little more interesting, as I can see Tim Tebow(Florida), Josh Heupel(Oklahoma), or Colt McCoy(Texas) leaving New York City with the bronze trophy. Who will ultimately stake claim to this year’s Heisman? I am going with Tebow. The guy might go down as arguably the game’s biggest winner. He could very well end his career with 3 national titles and two Heisman’s. That is insane! The 2009 College Football season promises to be fun to watch and I am definitely ready for some football!
