As the season unfolds these and maybe some surprise teams will play their way into the Top 25 Power Rankings.

With all the movement discussed and occurring with the college football conference realignment which conference is the best? Sportscasters have recently dubbed the SEC as the toughest and it has had a lot of National Champions recently, but is that because it’s the best or that it’s the easiest to go undefeated? Despite the media’s bias towards the SEC, my argument goes to the Big Ten as the toughest to go undefeated year in and year out top to bottom. The Big Ten doesn’t even have a Conference Championship game, yet! It does have depth. Every year there are at least a handful of teams that can beat any team in the conference where as some of the other major conferences have only one or two. The Big Ten will only get stronger when Nebraska joins the ranks. The odds makers at Bodog have the Ohio State Buckeyes -250 to win the Big Ten Conference.

Preseason ESPN College Football Poll – Vegas Handicapper Takes Issue with Boise St, Iowa

2010-ESPN-College-Football-Preseason-PollESPN.com has released it’s 2010 Preseason College Football Poll and it is now posted on NSAwins.com for your viewing enjoyment. The folks at ESPN.com do an excellent job of covering the College Football landscape, but one of NSAwins.com’s handicapping experts takes issue with a couple of their preseason ranks of a couple teams. For starters, NSAwins.com’s expert handicapper Lou Panelli(Las Vegas handicapper) claims Boise State has “absolutely no business” being ranked #3 over teams like Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. “Are you kidding me?”, Panelli said when asked about Boise State being #3 in the initial ESPN.com 2010 Preseason poll. “Everyone is getting too carried away with Boise Stae this season. Sure, they may run the table but that’s because their schedule is weak sister and they don’t get beaten up every week physically like the SEC, Big 12, ACC and power conference schools do.” According to Panelli, Boise State should be ranked no higher than #6 and feels Boise State could fall from the Top 5 quickly with a tough season opener on the east coast versus Virginia Tech at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. Another team that is ranked far too high in the eyes of Panelli is the Iowa Hawkeyes. “Iowa came out of nowhere and surprised a lot of teams last season. That’s not going to happen this season. For starters, their talent is not Top-10 material, ok? Add that to the fact that opponents will take them seriously from game 1 on and I just see that team struggling to win 9 regualar season games and certainly won’t come close to winning 10.” So there you have it folks, love him or hate him, but never accuse Lou Panelli of straddling the fence when it comes to giving his expert opinion on College Football teams. The old italian handicapper certainly won’t be on Boise St and Iowa fans’ christmas gifts list this year haha! Week 8 College Football Power Rankings from NSAwins.com – Georgia Tech Cracks Top 10

sec-championship-oddsNSAwins.com has posted it’s Week 8 College Football Power Rankings for the 2009 season. The following rankings are compiled by taking the Top 25 votes sent to us from NSAwins.com’s Sports Handicapping Experts(The LEGEND, Gerry “BIG CAT” Andino, Lou Panelli, Steve “SCOOP” Kendall, and William E. Stockton), as well as from NSAwins.com’s “FINAL SCORE REPORT” blog’s founders and contributing authors(Stephen G. and David E.). These rankings will be updated every monday throughout the College Football regular season and after the completion of the Bowl Season. Please keep in mind that these power rankings are based on current records and performances and not a prediction on how we think teams will end up at the end of the season or how two teams would fare if they
played one another. Below is the Week 8 College Football Top 25 power rankings from NSAwins.com.

NSAwins.com’s Week 8 College Football Top 25

This Week’s “SUPER 10″(Teams Ranked 1-10 in NSAwins.com’s Poll)

NOTE: ALL Records thru October 11, 2009
RK(LW), TEAM, RECORD
#1(3) – Alabama Crimson Tide 7-0 The defense was outstanding again in a 20-6 win over South Carolina last saturday. Two big rivalry games the next 2 weeks vs Tennessee and LSU will show us just how good the Tide really are.
#2(2) Florida Gators 6-0 What was that????? Struggling to beat an average Arkansas team in the Swamp 23-20 as a -24 point favorite? This team has not been anywhere near as dominant as it was last season. They must improve dramatically if they want to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship.
#3(3) – Texas Longhorns 6-0 Solid win over rival Oklahoma last saturday. However, OU was dominating before Sam Bradford got hurt. The Longhorns, like the Gators, have a lot of improving to do if they want to win the National Title this season.
#4(5) – TCU Horned Frogs 6-0 This team is a lot better than people think and we’ve been saying it all season. This team will run the table and should play in a BCS bowl game.
#5(6) – USC Trojans 5-1 The Trojans played ok in South Bend winning 34-27 but the defense dissapointed us. The Trojans are nowhere near as good as they’ve been for most of this decade. This is probably the worst USC team in the last 8 years. Having said that, they still are a Top 5 team in an otherwise mediocre group of teams this College Football season.
#6(8) – LSU Tigers 5-1 Bye week last saturday.
#7(9) – Miami Hurricanes 5-1 The Canes rolled 27-7 at Central Florida last saturday. Three tough road games remain at Wake Forest, at North Carolina and at South Florida. The Canes must keep up the intensity and avoid a slip up if they want to win the ACC and play in a BCS game.
#8(10) – Boise St Broncos 6-0 Boise St got it done 28-21 last thursday at Tulsa. If it avoids a slip up this saturday at Hawaii then they should cruise to an undefeated regular season again and play in an other BCS bowl game.
#9(11) – Cincinnati Bearcats 6-0 Impressive 24-17 roda win at South Florida. The final regular season game December 5th at Pittsburgh looks like it will be a doozy and decide the Big East Championship.
#10(20) – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 6-1 Outstanding win at home 28-23 over a very good Virginia Tech team saturday. The Jackets have played really good ball since losing 33-17 at Miami-Fl.

BEST of the REST(Teams Ranked 11-25)

#11(4) – Virginia Tech Hokies 5-2
#12(12) – Oklahoma St 5-1
#13(14) – Oregon Ducks 5-1
#14(16) – Iowa Hawkeyes 7-0
#15(17) – BYU Cougars 6-1
#16(18) – Penn St Nittany Lions 6-1
#17(22) – Houston Cougars 5-1
#18(23) – Utah Utes 5-1
#19(25) – Pittsburgh Panthers 6-1
#20(7) – Ohio St Buckeyes 5-2
#21(NR) – Texas Tech Red Raiders 5-2
#22(NR) – West Virginia Mountaineers 5-1
#23(24) – South Carolina Gamecocks 5-2
#24(13) – Kansas Jayhawks 5-1

College Football USA Today Top 25 Poll for Week 8 – Gators Remain #1

florida-gators-#1NSAwins.com has posted the new College Football USA Today Top 25 Poll for Week 8 of the 2009 College Football season. Florida, who was unseated by Alabama as the new #1 in this week’s AP Poll, remains the #1 team in this week’s coaches poll. The Gators grip on #1 is loosening, however, as #2 Alabama picked up four more 1st place votes this week after winning impressively again saturday(20-6 over So Carolina). Texas remains #3 this week, while USC and Boise St round out this week’s top 5. The rest of the Top 10 has Cincinnati #6 followed by TCU, Iowa, Miami-Fl and LSU. The poll welcomes in 5 new teams this week, as #19 Pittsburgh, #20 Utah, #22 West Virginia, #24 Texas Tech and #25 Mississippi enter the poll. Week 6 College Football Power Rankings from NSAwins.com – Miami(FL) Back in The Top 10

miami-hurricanes-footballNSAwins.com has posted it’s Week 6 College Football Power Rankings for the 2009 season.
Below is the Week 6 College Football Top 25 power rankings from NSAwins.com.

NSAwins.com’s Week 6 College Football Top 25

This Week’s “SUPER 15″(Teams Ranked 1-15 in NSAwins.com’s Poll)

NOTE: ALL Records thru October 4, 2009
RK(LW), TEAM, RECORD
#1(1) Florida Gators 4-0 The Gators are -7.5 point favorites this saturday night at LSU in what should be the game of the year so far. The question is will Tebow play and, more importantly, will he be anywhere close to 100%?
#2(2) – Texas Longhorns 4-0 Now that OU has been exposed as a fraud, who on Texas’s schedule even has a chance at upsetting the Longhorns? Looks to us like the Halloween game at Oklahoma St is about all that stands in the way from the Horns reaching the Big 12 title game undefeated.
#3(4) – Alabama Crimson Tide 5-0 The Tide are 5-0 and none of the games have been close other than the opener vs a strong Va Tech club. The Tide play at Ole Miss this saturday and we don’t expect it to be close. Lay the points.
#4(3) – LSU Tigers 5-0 We had LSU ranked in the Top 5 since the preseason while the two big polls(AP, USA Today) had them 5-7 spots below. Well, the nation will find out saturday night why we had LSU so high as we expect the Tigers to give the Gators all they can handle and then some.
#5(6) – Virginia Tech Hokies 4-1 The Hokies are in great position to get to the BCS title game if it wins out and deservedly so. Frank Beamer’s boys played Alabama really well and beat an outstanding Nebraska team in non-conference play to prove they belong among the nation’s elite.
#6(7) – TCU Horned Frogs 4-0 The Horned Frogs are another team that we’ve been sky high on since the preseason. They crushed SMU 39-14 last saturday and are well on their way to running the table just like we predicted.
#7(9) – USC Trojans 4-1 The Trojans are a force when they come to play like they did saturday in a 30-3 win at Cal. Two weeks to prepare for the Irish before they travel to South Bend on Oct 17 for that showdown. Charlie Weis better get some sleeping pills because he should have nightmares trying to sleep before his overrated team gets embrassed in two weeks.
#8(8) – Ohio St Buckeyes 4-1 The Buckeyes destroyed yet another cream puff saturday by hammering Indiana 33-14. The Buckeyes have a really good team but we would just like them to confirm it by beating SOMEONE. It’s a shame the Big 10 stinks year after year after year. Too bad the Buckeyes didn’t play in the Big 12 against some real competition.
#9(24) – Miami Hurricanes 3-1 Great win saturday and cementing their status as one of the nation’s elite teams again by beating OU 21-20 in south florida. The Canes have now beaten Florida St, Georgia Tech, and Oklahoma and lost at Va Tech. This team is battle tested and should only keep getting better.
#10(10) – Boise St Broncos 5-0 Have you looked at Boise St’s schedule the rest of the way? What a joke. When your toughest game is at Tulsa than that there tells you that your schedule is an embrassment. It’s hard to back these guys when they never play ANYONE.
#11(11) – Cincinnati Bearcats 5-0 Speaking of easy schedules… We like Cincinnati and think the world of Brian Kelly as a coach, but can they please beef up the schedule? When Oregon St is your toughest nonleague game than you are not challenging your team when you have a legitemate Top 15 club. This team should breeze to 10-0 record before their final game at Pitt. PLAY SOMEONE NEXT YEAR PLEASE!
#12(12) – Oklahoma St 3-1 Bye week last saturday. Big 12 play starts this saturday at Texas A&M. We expect the Cowboys to be ready.
#13(13) – Kansas Jayhawks 4-0 Bye week last saturday. Big 12 play starts this saturday at home vs Iowa St. We still won’t find out exactly how good Kansas is until October 24 when it travels to Norman to take on the Sooners.
#14(14) – Oregon Ducks 4-1 This team just keeps on getting better every week. The Ducks are really playing well and play at UCLA this saturday in what should be a helluva Pac 10 game to watch.
#15(15) – Nebraska Cornhuskers 4-1 – The Huskers play at Missouri thursday night and will be looking for some BIG TIME revenge for getting embrassed 52-17 last year at home vs the Tigers. The Huskers will get it DONE and you heard it here first on the NSAwins.com “Betting Daily” blog. Free 20* WINNER from The LEGEND on Nebraska -3.5.

BEST of the REST(Teams Ranked 15-25)

#16(16) – Iowa Hawkeyes 4-0
#17(25) – Auburn Tigers 5-0
#18(18) – Ole Miss Rebels 3-1
#19(20) – Missouri Tigers 4-0
#20(21) – BYU Cougars 4-1
#21(22) – Penn St Nittany Lions 4-1
#22(5) – Oklahoma Sooners 2-2
#23(NR) – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 4-1
#24(NR) – South Florida Bulls 5-0
#25(NR) – Wisconsin Badgers 5-0
