Free MLB Picks, Tips and Odds: Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox Favorite, Moneyline, Total and Expert Predictions 7/6/11: The Blue Jays were robbed of a tieing run in last nights affair with the Boston Red Sox and they will try and recoup in time for tonight’s finale of the three game set. Edwin Encarnacion’s right foot, on replay, was scene scraping the plate before the tag of Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek. The play took place in the top of the ninth inning with two outs and the subsequent miscall ended the game and the valiant rally of the Jays. It was yet another loss for Brett Cecil on the year who seems to be getting better with each consecutive start since being recalled. Cecil pitched quite admirably in last nights contest as he consistently battled Red Sox batters with an ensemble of cutters and breaking balls, he left the game in the 8th inning having given up 3 earned runs. Jose Bautista connected on a two run blast over the green monster to pull the game to within one run, the Jays home run king now has 28 round trippers on the year to lead the majors. Toronto, with the loss, now sits 9.5 games out of the wildcard spot in the American League and it will take a valiant rally in the second half of the season to be in the mix come late September. To ask any Jays player about their chances and they will tell you they feel confident in their clubs capabilities and they believe they have every opportunity to close the gap following the all-star break. If Toronto has any aspirations of October ball they will have to shore up their spotty pitching and address their sloppy defensive play.
The Boston Red Sox are quite fortunate to have another victory on the season after last night’s questionable call at the plate to end the game, the win gave the Red Sox 50 victories on the season. Boston starter Jon Lester was forced to leave the game in the fifth inning, with a no hitter going albeit, due to severe shoulder strain. Lester, before the exit, was mowing down the Jays lineup with a mix of arcing curve balls and high velocity fastballs. It was Matt Albers who was called on from the bullpen to replace Lester and the Jays got to him early. It will be the bullpen that the Red Sox will look to address at the trading deadline or before, the pen has underperformed all season long and there looks to be no consistency or coming improvement. The Red Sox will have a great opportunity to pull away, or even grab the reigns of the AL East division, when they host the Baltimore Orioles in a four game set to end the first half of the season. Boston has had excellent success over the Baltimore club for the last 5 years and the Red Sox know the opportunity they have this coming weekend against a weakening Orioles ball club.
Our complimentary selection tonight will be the OVER in the finale of the three game set between the AL East rivals in the Blue Jays and Red Sox. Toronto’s offense is one of the most lethal and powerful units in the entire league and they seem to be awakening after their late June slump. Jose Bautista, who had only 4 homers to show for in the month of June, already has 5 round trippers in the early stages of the month of July and connected on a blast last night that soared over the green monster. The Red Sox send Tim Wakefield to the mound in tonight’s series finale, the Jays have had great success with Wakefield on the mound over the last 3 seasons. The Jays counter with Ricky Romero, but the Jays ace has a disappointing track record against the Red Sox. The total has gone OVER in 4 of Toronto’s last 5 games and has gone OVER in 6 of Toronto’s last 8 games when playing Boston. We will consider the OVER to be in play tonight as both clubs will look to go running into their final series before the all-star break. Cheers!

Free MLB Picks, Tips and Odds: Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox Favorite, Moneyline, Total and Expert Predictions 7/5/11: The Toronto Blue Jays exacted some revenge on their counterparts in the Boston Red Sox Monday afternoon and now will shoot for their straight win on Tuesday night at Fenway. The Jays offense roughed up Red Sox hurler John Lackey for 7 earned runs early in Mondays contest, which saw the starter chased early in the afternoon affair. Aaron Hill connected for this fourth round tripper on the year and Rajai Davis continued his streak of outings with at least a double. Another story line for the Jays was the rebirth of Travis Snider, who went 3-4 with 3 doubles. Snider has long been called the future of the Toronto franchise but he has yet to find a consistent groove, thus he has been demoted to AAA quite often then not. The recent stint in the minors was designed to work on his approach at the plate, and more particular his stance. He was very tight and had a long swing before his demotion but yesterday saw him a lot more loose and open. He was witnessed putting the ball all around the field and he took some mighty cuts at the plate. For the Jays to have any potential of making a run at the division this season they will have to rely on Snider staying consistent and living up to his calling as a pure offensive power. The Jays will send another recall from the minors in Brett Cecil to the mound tonight, he will be looking to pick up his second win on the season.
The Red Sox made a valiant attempt at the comeback on their July 4th afternoon game but the early offensive outburst by the Jays was too much to hurdle in the end. John Lackey had another poor outing on the mound for the bean town bunch and it is becoming more and more likely that the one-time all-star might be let go. Lackey has admitted to elbow issues and forearm strains this season but it has not hindered his dedication to the Red Sox organization and his passion for the game. His velocity his extremely down and he is getting little action on his balls, all signs that his best days may be behind him. Boston now owns a 6-4 record on the year against these Jays and are 9.5 games up on them in the wildcard chase. Offensively the Red Sox have demolished this Toronto club this season, their 35-6 run tally in their last series in Toronto was the most lop sided margin of victory in a series in more then ten years. Whatever happened to the early season scare that this team might have been too hyped coming out of spring training? After a disastrous first week and a half of baseball, the Red Sox have stayed true to their game and have risen to the occasion, fulfilling their early season calling card. The Red Sox will most definitely be in the mix come late September and they will be a force to be reckoned with down the stretch.
The complimentary selection in tonight ball game between the Red Sox and Blue Jays we will side with the home team. The Red Sox do not like being embarrassed on their home turf, especially on an early afternoon game on a holiday weekend. Boston was put in their place by a feisty and powerful Jays offense on Monday afternoon and the Sox had little answer for the surge. The Red Sox own a 15-6 record in the game following an outing in which they give up 7+ runs. Jon Lester will get the ball for the Red Sox on Tuesday night, he will be looking to pick up his 11th win on the season and add another victory against the Blue Jays to his stat book. Lester has had admirable success against the Jays since becoming a regular starter for Boston, he owns a .735 winning percentage over the Canadian franchise. The Jays counter with their ongoing project in Brett Cecil, he did not look overly confident in his first outing since being recalled from AAA Las Vegas. We will consider the Red Sox pulling this series even with a valiant effort at home tonight. Cheers!
