Free NFL Picks Week 5, 2010 from Stephen G

Plenty of news in the NFL since last week…  Miami’s special teams meltdown and subsequent firing of their special teams coach, Jay Cutler getting blasted by the Giants pass rush and knocked onto Queer Street, Randy Moss getting traded back to Minnesota in a shocker…

I stumbled a little last week and didn’t have the week I was looking for, but hey even the best of teams already have a loss this year.  There’s not a whole lot of marquee games this weekend but we don’t make the schedule….on to the picks for week 5.

Sunday 10/10

Baltimore (minus 7) – Tough place for the Donkey’s to play, I believe they got waxed 30-7 there last year.  Denver is also on the 2nd East Coast road game in 2 weeks.  Baltimore’s flying high after beating Pittsburgh and don’t want to give up any ground.

St. Louis (plus 3) – Bradford is the real deal and Spags has the defense playing pretty good too.  The Rams are coming on and I think they can win this game outright so I’ll take the points here.

Tampa Bay (plus 6) I don’t know what the deal is with the BenGirls and their offense…it’s been pretty ugly and Palmer is not the same guy.  I say the Bucs coming off their bye week can make it a tight game plus when was the last time the Bungles laid the wood to anyone?

Houston (minus 3)  Look, I’m not sold that the Giants have solved all their problems with the win against Chicago..  If Houston can block halfway decent, the back end of NY’s defense is still pretty bad.  Plus, the G-Men have played only one road game and they were trounced by Indy in that one.

San Francisco (minus 3)  This is where the Niners get off the schneid, okay?  They shoulda won at Atlanta if not for a brain fart by Nate Clements getting stripped when all he had to do is fall down to cement the win.  SF is better than a 0-4 team and Philly has problems at QB and their defense got run over by Washington’s run game.  I think SF with Gore can pound on this soft Philly D that doesn’t play too well out on the west coast.

Monday 10/11

Jets (minus 4) I get that everyone in Minnesota is giddy about getting Moss and all, but the Vikings haven’t been playing well on offense and Moss isn’t going to change that in one week, plus playing the Jet defense in NY on Monday night isn’t exactly the way to get it untracked.  Sanchez and the offense has been the story for NY this year and they are playing with a ton of confidence.  Give me the Fat Guy over the Bald Guy…

Minnesota/NY (Under 39)  Every one of Minnestota’s games this year have been under this number.  Means they’ve played decent defense and haven’t scored much…  They won’t be lighting up the scoreboard in NY either.
