Free NFL Picks by Stephen G. – Week 3, 2012

They say you shouldn’t overreact to a team’s result in week 1, good or bad.  Well, the same thing holds true for handicappers, especially yours truly!  After laying the proverbial egg in week 1, I rebounded nicely in week 2, going a respectable 4-2-1.  This week will show whether I’m a pretender or contender my friends…so, here’s my slate for week 3.

Last Week

4-2-1  (67%)

Season

6-7-1  (46%)

Sunday 9/23

Tampa Bay Plus 8 – Outside of the 4th quarter collapse, the Bucs have been solid for 7 of 8 quarters.  The Cowboys are, well, the Cowboys… up one week, down the next.  Dallas should win this game in their home opener, but with Dallas you never know.  I’ll take the points because I think Tampa can keep it to a one possession game.

NY Jets Minus 1 – Repeat after me, the Fish are not the Steelers, okay?  Miami doesn’t have much and a rookie QB going against Fat Rex is not a recipe for success.  That tool Fireman Ed will be happy after this one.

New Orleans Minus 9 – Sean Payton isn’t Jesus Christ who could turn water into wine, okay?  He’s good, but not that good.  The Saints have good players and they desperately need this one.  And if you can’t lay the wood to a crappy Chiefs team, who can you do it to?

Washington Minus 3 – I’ll take the combo of RG3 and Shanahanjob over Opie Taylor and Marvin Lewis anyday.  However, RG3 needs to settle down and not opine on other team’s “professionalism” after a whole two weeks in the league… Rookies should be seen and not heard.

Houston Minus 3 – Goober didn’t look too good in Atlanta and Houston is a just a better team than Denver, so, I’ll go with the better squad, period.

Baltimore Minus 3 – The Ravens always blame the refs when they lose, but this week they won’t have to.  They will be jacked up and smelling blood to get the taste of their gag job up in Foxboro last year out of their mouths.  The Pats are out of sync on offense and this will be their biggest test of their re-tooled defense.   I don’t see the Pats being able to handle them on the road.

Monday 9/24

Green Bay Minus 3.5 – Let’s settle down on Petey Poodle and his upstart Seahags…  yeah, Pete will have them “pumped and jacked” but a rookie QB isn’t beating Mr. Discount Double Check ladies and gentlemen!  Not on Monday night football in primetime…not happening.
