ESPN MNF Chicago Bears at New York Giants 2011 NFL Preseason Predictions, Odds, and Picks
Chicago Bears at New York Giants 2011 NFL Preseason Week 2 Predictions, Odds, and Picks on ESPN Monday Night Football: Head football coach Lovie Smith will lead the Chicago Bears to the turf of Meadowlands Stadium to take on quarterback Eli Manning and the New York Football Giants on Monday night at 8:00 PM ET on ESPN’s Monday Night Football for the last game of the NFL Preseason week 2. Coach Smith had the Bears within a touchdown of winning the NFC Championship last season where they finished the regular season 11-5 and lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers and are 1-0 with an early preseason victory. Unfortunately winning the Black and Blue NFC North with the Packers, Vikings, and an improving Detroit Lions again will be no easy task. Likewise for Head football coach Tom Coughlin for the Giants who always seems on the hot seat even with a Super Bowl on his resume but its New York City and there are always high expectations! Even with Washington being down the last few seasons the NFC East still has the Dallas Cowboys and the retooled Philadelphia Eagles to deal with to win the division. The odds makers at Bodog have the New York Giants -4 1/2 point favorite at home against the Chicago Bears.
The Bears are coming off a 10-3 win over the Buffalo Bills on a soggy night in which neither team played their starters for more than two series. Quarterback Jay Cutler completed the only pass he threw and was out after one series. The Bears have done their share to assist the Giants in the offseason signing running back Marion Barber and wide receiver Roy Williams from Dallas to improve their skill positions and help Cutler with the offense. The offensive line didn’t get enough play to really determine whether they will be improved this season with younger players. Vegas odds makers have the Chicago Bears as 34/1 odds to win the 2012 Super Bowl.
The New York Giants lost their preseason opener 20-10 on the road to the Carolina Panthers and their number one draft pick Cam Newton. Quarterback Eli Manning played 5 series for the Giants and completed just 4 of 9 passes for 36 yards and did not lead the offense to a score. The Giants did miss 2 field goals and had another field goal blocked on a night they just didn’t look like they had it going. Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 35 1/2 points combined of the Chicago Bears and New York Giants.
I predict the Bears and Giants play OVER 35 points!
