5 Games to Watch in Primetime for the 2009 NFL Season

With the NFL season just a month away, let’s take a look at 5 Sunday Night and Monday Night games that all NFL fans must devote time to watching. They are simply must-watch TV, so kick the wife out of the house, get a six-pack of cold ones, order a pizza, and get ready for some entertaining football! Let’s get to it….

WEEK 1 – BUFFALO @ NEW ENGLAND(Monday 9/14/09)
The return of Tom Brady and the beginning of the TO era in Buffalo make this the most intriguing game of Week 1. Add to it the fact that both these teams know each other well and you can expect a very interesting, hard fought game to watch on Monday Night Football. TO has already popped off that New England will not have an “easy” time of it and you just know he will say something even more brash leading up to the game. Great game to start off the MNF campaign.

WEEK 4 – SAN DIEGO @ PITTSURGH(Sunday 10/4/09)
A rematch of last season’s AFC Championship game featuring two of the AFC’s heavyweight contenders, this game promises to be a fun game to watch. The Steelers, trying to repeat and stake claim to being 1B to New England’s 1A as team of the decade, will look to go 3-0 against the Chargers the last two season’s with a win. The Chargers, who are in the 3rd year of the Norv Turner era, will try to put the AFC on notice that they are serious about getting over the hump in 2009. This should be a highly competitive contest worthy of staying up late for.

WEEK 4 – GREEN BAY @ MINNESOTA(Monday 10/5/09)
These two teams despise each other. The two fan bases hate each other. Does it get any better than that? Minnesota and it’s bafoon head coach, Brad Childress, made a run at Brett Favre in the offseason and allowed the old, washed-up prima donna to play them like a fiddle so he could get some more air time and press before his overrated career(a blog story for a later time, folks) was officially put to bed. Anyway, this game should be intense, as both teams should fight it out all season in what should be a tight NFC Central division.

WEEK 5 – NY JETS @ MIAMI(Monday 10/12/09)
Yet another battle between two teams that simply can’t stand each other. The J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets, and their new loud mouth head coach, Rex Ryan, have been running their mouths all offseason. If it wasn’t Jets safety Kerry Rhodes proclaiming the Jets as having the league’s best defense, than it was Ryan taking verbal shots at Miami’s Channing Crowder and saying he didn’t come to the Jets to “kiss” Bill Belichick’s rings. Hey Rex, here’s some advice, order the salad and win something as a head coach before you start barking up Belichick’s tree. Miami should be chomping at the bit to put Rex and Gang Green in it’s place in primetime.

WEEK 12 – NEW ENGLAND @ NEW ORLEANS(Monday 11/30/09)
The scoreboard operator will definitely earn his or her pay on this game. This one promises to be an absolute shootout and one of the most fun games to watch all season. Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Randy Moss, Reggie Bush, and company will be marching up and down the field all night long and if you bet on NFL games, than you had best be betting on the OVER for this one. Not only will this game be fun to watch, but it also just might decide the NFL’s MVP race with Brady and Brees figuring to be two of the top contenders for the award.
