2018 NFL Picks & Betting Odds Week 5 – Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns Predictions

The Baltimore Ravens come into this week with a 3-1 overall record and 3-1 against the spread. The Ravens are flying high after dominating the Pittsburgh Steelers with a 26-14 win at Heinz Field on Sunday Night Football last week.

Head coach John Harbaugh has his Baltimore squad focused so far this 2018 season as they look to get back to the playoffs. The Ravens choked in their last game last season in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in week 17 that would have given them a Wild Card spot. The Ravens have now missed the playoffs in 4 of the past 5 seasons and Harbaugh knows that anything less then a playoff spot this season will most likely cost him his job.

The Ravens have always been known for their stout defense and this year is no different. The defense has been superb so far thru 4 games as it’s allowing just 275.8 yards per game and just 4.6 yards per play. The defense is holding opposing quarterbacks to just a 67.6 quarterback rating.

The Cleveland Browns come into this game with a 1-2-1 overall record and 3-1 against the spread this season. The Browns once again found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory last week at Oakland as they failed to protect a last minute lead and ultimately lost 45-42 in overtime.

The Browns have a lot of talent on their roster this season and certainly much more then in the past handful of years. However, head coach Hue Jackson continues to be a dunce on the sideline and has no ability whatsoever to mold it all together and start producing wins on the field. Jackson is now a pathetic 2-33-1 in his 3rd season as coach and one has to wonder if this guy has secret photos of the owner’s wife as to why he hasn’t gotten a pink slip yet. Cut the cord with this guy already will ya Cleveland?

Anyway, Cleveland is improved this season in terms of talent and a lot of that has to do with quarterback Baker Mayfield. We don’t care what the stats say because Mayfield certainly passes the eye test and looks every bit the real deal as a high caliber NFL quarterback. Mayfield is still going thru growing pains but it’s only a matter of time before this guy is leading one of the most explosive and high scoring offenses in the NFL. The guy has the talent and the confidence you need to be a big time signal caller in this league.

We look for this game to be competitive but for the Ravens to ultimately win and cover. Hue Jackson will once again find a way for his team to lose and getting +3 points isn’t enough for us to back this loser. Lay the points and bet on Baltimore -3.
