The early favorite to win the AFC West are the Denver Broncos at -200 odds followed by the Kansas City Chiefs at +400, San Diego Chargers at +500 and Oakland Raiders at +1200. Let’s take a look at the AFC West Division race this NFL season and make our expert 2015 NFL picks & predictions on each team’s record from the AFC West plus order of finish.

2015 AFC West Division Predictions and Odds to Win

1. Kansas City Chiefs(+400 odds to win AFC West at Bovada) – The Chiefs failed to make the NFL playoffs last season but they did accomplish one impressive feat that no other NFL team did last season. They were the only NFL team to post wins against the AFC Champion Patriots and NFC Champion Seahawks. The Chiefs obviously have enough talent to compete with the big boys in the NFL but need to find more consistency and definitely need to solve their anemic passing game. The Chiefs went the entire season last year without throwing a touchdown to a wide receiver and that hadn’t been done since the AFL and NFL merger in 1970. The Chiefs signed free agent wideout Jeremy Maclin in free agency and did draft a solid wideout prospect in Chris Conley from Georgia in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft so the Chiefs passing game should be improved. The defense finished 7th in the NFL in total defense last year behind the superb play of OLB Justin Houston and their defense should once again be a Top 10 unit in the NFL this season. 2015 Projected Record for Kansas City Chiefs: 11-5

2. Denver Broncos(-200 odds to win AFC West at Bovada) – The Broncos suffered another embrassing home loss in the AFC playoffs last season to Indianapolis and that was enough for GM John Elway to hand former head coach John Fox his walking papers and bring in old friend Gary Kubiak to be the new head coach. We have our doubts if that’s even an upgrade and we also have our doubts about Peyton Manning this season. Manning was absolutely a shell of his former self down the stretch last season and had little to no zip on his ball. The excuse makers pointed to Manning’s tear in his right quadriceps and a swiss cheese offensive line as to why he struggled late last year but we aren’t buying it. Father time is undefeated and we feel Manning will continue to slide down the ranks of the NFL best qb’s again this season. The Broncos defense was ranked 3rd in the NFL last season but was far from a dominant unit. They were helped more from the fact that they always played with a big lead thanks to Manning’s offense rather than overall talent. With Manning’s offense not being as explosive this season expect the Broncos defense to get more exposed when opposing teams aren’t forced to throw a lot and can utilize more balance for 4 quarters. 2015 Projected Record for Denver Broncos: 10-6

3. San Diego Chargers(+500 odds to win AFC West at Bovada) – The Chargers have won 9 games in both of head coach Mike McCoy’s two seasons in San Diego and it’s looking like year 3 will look very much like the first two. Quarterback Phillip Rivers returns for his 10th season as the starter for the Chargers and will be looking to bounce back from a tough season finale loss at KC that knocked the Bolts out of the AFC Playoffs. The offense has plenty of weapons and should be more explosive this season as they’ve added free agent wideouts Stevie Johnson and Jacoby Jones to go along with an already solid cast in tight end Antonio Gates, wide receiver Keenan Allen and wide receiver Malcolm Floyd. The Chargers defense should be solid again as it finished 9th overall in the NFL last season and the Chargers used four of their five NFL draft selections on the defensive side of the ball to improve depth. 2015 Projected Record for San Diego Chargers: 9-7

3. Oakland Raiders(+1200 odds to win AFC West at Bovada) – After winning a total of just 11 games over the last 3 seasons, Raider fans and players are celebrating change with the arrival of Jack Del Rio as new raiders head coach. Del Rio was the defensive coordinator for the Broncos the last three seasons so he knows the AFC West Division inside and out plus he knows what the Raiders’ big problem are on offense after devising schemes to shut them down the past few years. 2nd year quarterback Derek Carr is a promising talent that should continue to improve under Del Rio’s regime while the rest of the offense should continue to improve and play with more discipline under Del Rio. The Raiders used their 1st rd draft pick on wideout Amari Cooper plus added tight end Clive Walford in the 3rd round so those two should give Carr more weapons and help the Raiders improve upon their dead last 32nd ranked offense last year. The defense was ranked 21st in the NFL last season but that will almost certainly improve under Del Rio as he is one of the best defensive minds in the game. 2015 Projected Record for Oakland Raiders: 6-10
