2015 NBA Draft Recap: Top 5 Undrafted Players Most Likely to Make an NBA Roster

2015-NBA-Draft-Picks-and-Projections2015 NBA Draft Recap – Top 5 Undrafted Players Most Likely to Make an NBA Roster: The 2015 NBA Draft is in the books, but for those players that didn’t hear their names called Thursday night, their chances of making the NBA are far from over. With just two rounds in the draft, there are plenty of talented players that go undrafted every year that eventually catch on with a team. Plus, several teams opt to select foreign prospects that they can stash overseas for a few years in order to save salary cap space, which leaves roster spots that need immediate filling. The bottom line is that there are going to be a some undrafted players that end up on NBA roster prior to next season, and here is a closer look at five prospects that I expect to find a home.

2015 NBA Draft Recap: Top 5 Undrafted Players Most Likely to Make an NBA Roster

  1. Cliff Alexander, PF, Kansas Jayhawks

Alexander now holds the dubious honor of being just the second Rivals.com top-five recruit to end up going undrafted over the last 11 years. Injuries and off-court issues ruined his lone season at Kansas, and there were simply too many question marks for teams roll the dice on Alexander in the draft. However, teams will be lining up to get a look at him now that they don’t have to commit at all, and the powerful, athletic Alexander should have no problem finding a home.

  1. Michael Qualls, SG, Arkansas Razorbacks

A knee injury prevented him from working out, or Qualls would have likely been picked in the middle of the second round. He is a hard-nosed guard with plus size for his position, and while he isn’t a knock-down shooter, he knows how to create a shot and should be a solid perimeter defender. Once he is healthy and can showcase his skills, he should have no problem finding a role off the bench in someone’s backcourt rotation.

  1. Christian Wood, PF, UNLV Runnin’ Rebels

Wood was repeatedly knocked for his lack of focus, especially on the defensive end, and his motor is inconsistent at best. With that in mind, you can imagine his raw talent when you consider that he averaged a double-double and 2.7 blocks at UNLV last year. He needs to add some muscle to his 6-11 frame, but Wood simply has too much upside not to land on an NBA roster. He will really have to mature to become an NBA starter, but the fact that there is a player available after the draft with the skills to one day start will be more than enough for a team to take a flier.

  1. Robert Upshaw, C, Washington Huskies

There are red flags with his health and his off-court activities, but there is too much upside with Upshaw for a team not to give him a chance to develop. He averaged 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in just 24.9 points per game last season at Washington, and at the very least, he should be a presence on the defensive end as a rim protector. Look for Upshaw to catch on as a rotation big man.

  1. Chris Walker, PF, Florida Gators

He committed to Florida as a can’t-miss prospect, and two years later, he went undrafted after a terrible decision to leave school early. Still, Walker is an impressive physical specimen with athlete athleticism for a big man, and there are some things you just can’t teach. On the flip side, Walker needs to figure out how to use his physical tools on the basketball court, but at this point, teams will be more than willing to make a small investment with the hope that Walker eventually puts it all together.
