2015-AAA-400-Odds-Free-Picks-and-Predictions2015 AAA 400 Odds, Free Picks & Predictions – Favorites, Contenders and Sleepers: The Cup Series is back at Dover International Speedway, and unlike the May race at the track, the stakes are high for Sunday’s AAA 400 because it is the first elimination race of the 2015 Chase for the Sprint Cup. After the race, four drivers will see their championship hopes disappear, and as a result, you can expect an intense atmosphere and plenty of desperate moves by drivers and crew chiefs as they try to steal a win to earn an automatic pass to the next round. With that in mind, here is a closer look at the drivers to watch in Sunday’s race at Dover.

The Favorites

His 10 wins at Dover are not only the most among active drivers, but Jimmie Johnson actually has the most wins at the track in series history. Three of his wins have come in the last four races here, including a win at the track in May. Johnson also owns the best average finish at the track, he leads all drivers in most statistical categories, including laps led, fastest laps run, average running position and driver rating.

The last time Kevin Harvick needed to win a race to keep his championship hopes alive, he won at Phoenix and Homestead to close the 2014 season as the champ. He faces a win-or-go-home race this weekend at Dover, and last fall, he led the most laps at the track before a tire issue cost him a win. Earlier this year, Harvick led 91 laps and finished second. Don’t write him off just yet.

He has four top-five finishes in his last six starts at Dover, including a victory in the fall race at the track in 2012, and Brad Keselowski is one of just three drivers with four top-five finishes at the track during the stretch. Keselowski has also finished second in two of his last three starts at the track, and he led 78 laps here last fall and 28 laps earlier this year.

Fresh off his fourth win in the last eight races, Matt Kenseth will try to reach victory lane again Sunday at a Dover track that has always been one of his best. He is a two-time winner at the concrete oval, and he has six finishes of seventh or better in nine races since 2011, including five top-five finishes. Since 2005, he ranks in the top three in a variety of categories, including laps led, fastest laps run and driver rating.

The Contenders

He is a former winner at Dover, and Martin Truex Jr. has been a force at the track since joining Furniture Row Racing. He has finished seventh or better in all three starts at the track with the team, and earlier this year, he led the most laps at Dover in the May race after starting on the pole.

Two-time Dover winner Kyle Busch has always been fast at the track one-mile oval, and in the last 10 races at the track, he has logged seven top-10s. During the same stretch, his 617 laps led ae the second most of any driver, and he has led more than 80 laps three times during the span.

While he has yet to win at Dover, Joey Logano has been on a tear at the track. He has finished 11th or better in seven straight starts dating back to his time with Joe Gibbs Racing, and since joining Team Penske, he has finished third and fourth in two starts at track in the fall race. It is only a matter of time before he wins here.

The sample size is small, but Kyle Larson has been on an upward trajectory at Dover. He has a 6.7 average finish in three starts at the track, and after finishing sixth here last fall, he finished a career-best third here earlier this year. If the trend continues, it won’t be long before Larson conquers the “Monster Mile.”
