2014 Sta-Green 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions: Vegas Favorites and Drivers to Bet

NASCAR-Nationwide-Series-Picks-Odds-Predictions2014 Sta-Green 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions: Vegas Favorites and Drivers to Bet: The Nationwide Series heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend, and with the Cup Series also visiting the flat, 1.0-mile track, there are a few big names pulling double duty this weekend. In fact, three of the five Cup drivers slated to run the Nationwide race have a win at New Hampshire. The Nationwide regulars are also at a bit of a disadvantage from a experience standpoint. While the Cup Series visits New Hampshire twice each year, the Nationwide Series only makes one stop at the track. With that in mind, here is a closer look at the favorites this weekend as well as some other drivers that could pull off the upset.

The Favorites

Not only is Kyle Busch the defending winner of this weekend’s race, but he has also been enjoying an incredible run of dominance at the track. Busch has won four of the last five Nationwide races at New Hampshire, and he has finished third or better in five of his last six starts. It’s tough to bet against Busch this weekend considering all the trips he has been making to victory lane at New Hampshire recently.

In five Nationwide starts at New Hampshire, Brad Keselowski has never finished outside the top 10, and his 4.8 average finish at the track is the best of any driver in the field this weekend. Meanwhile, Keselowksi has finished in the top three in three of his last four starts at New Hampshire, winning his most recent start in 2012. Keselowski is a serious threat to go back to victory lane Saturday.

His 5.5 average finish at New Hampshire is the second best of any driver in the field this weekend, and in six career Nationwide starts at the track, Matt Kenseth has never finished outside the top 10. In fact, Kenseth has never finished worse than ninth at the track, and he has finished in the top three in three of his six starts at NHMS, winning at the track in 2004.

The Dark Horses

He finished 14th in his Nationwide debut at New Hampshire last season, but there is a good chance Kyle Larson will improve on that result this weekend. After all, the highly-touted youngster already has a couple of Nationwide wins under his belt in just his second year in the series, and he is steamrolling his way to the Rookie of the Year Award at the Cup level. Larson has been a regular contender in the Nationwide Series, and that shouldn’t change Saturday.

Although he has only made two previous Nationwide starts this season, Paul Menard has been brilliant in both. He won at Michigan earlier this season, and in his most recent start, he finished fourth at Kentucky. Menard also has three top-10 finishes in his last four Nationwide starts at New Hampshire. He has been a factor in both of his Nationwide starts in 2014, and the trend could continue this weekend.

Sleeper Special

His 2014 season hasn’t exactly gone according to plan, but rookie Ty Dillon could be in line for a breakout performance this weekend at New Hampshire. After all, he is driving for the same Richard Childress Racing team that has finished third at New Hampshire in each of the past two seasons with Ty’s older brother Austin behind the wheel. Ty should benefit from having a proven setup to work with, and it could make him a surprise contender this weekend.

Big Name to Avoid

Although he hasn’t been terrible, Elliott Sadler has never enjoyed the success at New Hampshire that he has enjoyed at many of the other tracks on the schedule. Since returning to the Nationwide Series full time in 2009, Sadler has managed just one top-10 finish in five starts at the track. He will likely be playing damage control this weekend, and it would be a major leap for Sadler to suddenly end up in victory lane.
