2013 Zippo 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions: Kyle Busch Favored to Win

2013-Zippo-200-Odds-Free-Picks-and-Predictions2013 Zippo 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Kyle Busch Favored to Win: The Nationwide Series heads to Watkins Glen International this weekend, and while the race is a companion event with the Cup Series event, there are only a few Cup drivers that will be pulling double duty. As a result, there is a decent chance that a Nationwide regular could end the eight-race win streak of Cup drivers at the track. In fact, no Nationwide regular has won at The Glen since the series returned to the track in 2005 following a three-year absence.

Last year, Penske Racing teammates Brad Keselowski and Sam Hornish Jr. dominated most of the race, combining to lead 59 of the 82 laps. Keselowski also led a race-high 44 laps and was out front during the final run to the finish when Carl Edwards got by him to pick up the win. Meanwhile, Keselowski and Hornish settled for second and third.

The Favorites

With a series-leading eight wins and 13 top-five finishes in 15 Nationwide starts in 2013, Kyle Busch would be on the short list of favorites at any track. The fact that he has finished sixth or better in his last five starts at Watkins Glen doesn’t hurt his value either. During the stretch, Busch has compiled a 3.8 average finish and has a pair of second-place finishes.

He is coming off a win at Iowa last weekend, and Brad Keselowski could make it two in a row this weekend. In four starts at Watkins Glen, he has compiled a 5.3 average finish and has never finished outside the top 10. Last year, Keselowski actually finished second in both the Cup and Nationwide Series events at Watkins Glen.

The Dark Horses

Although he hasn’t been a dominant driver at road courses throughout his career, Kasey Kahne is one of the most experienced and most proven drivers in the field this weekend. He also finished seventh at Watkins Glen in the Nationwide Series last event last year and has five top-10s in eight starts in the series in 2013. Road ace or not, Kahne is a 16-time winner at the Cup level so he can’t be written off in a Nationwide race.

While he has yet to win a road course race, Sam Hornish Jr. has been the most consistent driver in the Nationwide Series at the road courses dating back to last year. He has four straight top-five finishes in road course events, compiling a 3.8 average finish during the stretch. At Watkins Glen specifically, Hornish won the pole and finished third last season in the Nationwide race and finished in the top five in the Cup race the same weekend.

He has quietly established himself as one of the top road racers in the Nationwide Series, and Justin Allgaier has reeled off four straight top-10s at road courses. During the stretch, he has compiled an 8.5 average finish and has finished in the top 10 in all four starts. More importantly, Allgaier has a win and a second-place finish in the last two road races.

Sleeper Special

Brian Vickers is still looking for a road course win, but he is running so well right now, he seems to be able to contend anywhere. He has finished in the top five in the four races leading up to Watkins Glen, and for the year, his 10 top-five finishes are the most of any series regular. It is only a matter of time before Vickers gets to victory lane in the Nationwide Series.

Big Name to Avoid

Although he has built a 14-point lead in the Nationwide standings, Austin Dillon is a work in progress at the road courses. He has a 15.0 average finish in his last four starts at road courses, and while he does have a couple of top-10s, he has never finished better than ninth. Dillon is used to running in the top five and contending for wins, but at Watkins Glen, he will likely be fighting just to sneak into the top 10.
