2012 OneMain Financial 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Sleepers to Win OneMain Financial 200: The Nationwide Series is back at the “Monster Mile” this weekend, and dominating performances have been the theme of late. It seems like one or two drivers hit on a strong setup, and everyone else in the field is racing for second. Whether or not the trend continues this weekend remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised to see the drivers dominating early in the race to be the same ones fighting for the win in the closing laps.

Last fall, Carl Edwards led a dominating performance from the Cup drivers that decided to pull double duty. Edwards was the class of the field all afternoon, leading 179 of the 200 laps on his way to the win. Brad Keselowski finished second while Clint Bowyer and Kasey Kahne completed a sweep of the top four spots for the Cup drivers. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the highest finishing Nationwide regular.

Earlier this year, it was the Joe Gibbs Racing show at Dover. JGR driver Joey Logano dominated the race, leading 154 of the 200 laps, but it appeared that pit strategy on the part of his teammate Ryan Truex would give Truex the victory. However, Truex got caught in lap traffic, allowing Logano and his four fresh tires to catch him and pass him in the closing laps. When all was said and done, JGR drivers had combined to lead 197 of the 200 laps and claimed the top three spots. It doesn’t get much better for a team owner.

The Favorites – 2012 OneMain Financial 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

He will be trying for the season sweep at Dover this weekend, and given his career numbers at the track in the Nationwide Series, Joey Logano just might get the job done. He has never finished outside the top 15 in seven career starts, compiling a solid 7.3 average finish. More importantly, Logano has a win and two second-place finishes in his last five starts at the track. The series leader in wins in 2012 could definitely add to his total this weekend.

It has been a disappointing year for Kyle Busch in his first season as an owner/driver in the Nationwide Series, but his team has made big strides in recent weeks, and he has been excellent at Dover in the past. He is a three-time winner at the track overall and has two wins in his last three starts. In fact, Busch has finished fourth or better in his last four Dover starts, compiling a 2.0 average finish. His No. 54 machine finished fourth in the June race at the track with his older brother Kurt driving, and Kyle could easily get the car to Victory Lane this weekend.

The Dark Horses – 2012 OneMain Financial 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Although he had mechanical issues at Dover earlier this year, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is still a threat to win this weekend. He finished in the top five in both starts at the track last season, and he brings plenty of momentum into Dover. Stenhouse has finished second or better in four of his last five starts and has a pair of wins during the stretch. He could add to that win total this weekend at Dover.

Despite making just one start at Dover in the last four Nationwide races at the track, Kasey Kahne could still make plenty of noise this weekend. After all, he finished fourth in his most recent start at Dover last fall and has three finishes of fourth or better at the track for his career. Kahne has been rather quiet in three of his last four Nationwide starts, but he could get back on track in a big way at Dover.

Whenever Elliott Sadler shows any sign of weakness, he seems to bounce back in a big way. He regained the points lead last weekend at Chicagoland, and he should be running at the front of the field again this weekend. Sadler has finished seventh or better in two of his last three Dover starts, including a seventh-place run earlier this year. Granted, he is still looking for his first win at the track, but with a career-best four wins already under his belt in 2012, you can’t rule out a career day for one the most reliable drivers in the series.

Sleeper Specials – 2012 OneMain Financial 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Fresh off a season sweep at Chicagoland, rookie Austin Dillon will look to inch closer to the top spot in the standings this weekend at Dover. He finished sixth in his track debut earlier this season, and if he improves even a little bit from that start, he will be right in the mix for the win. Dillon has already enjoyed one of the more impressive rookie years in series history, and at this point, he has to be considered a threat to win at just about any track.

Darrell Wallace Jr. will be making his Dover debut in the Nationwide Series this weekend, and the stars could be aligning for an upset win from the young driver. For starters, he has finished in the top 10 in all three of his Nationwide starts in 2012. More importantly, he will be driving the same No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota that Ryan Truex nearly won with in the June before being passed in the closing laps by fellow JGR driver Joey Logano. Wallace clearly has talent, and he is driving for an organization that has dominated Dover. The ingredients for a big day are in place.

Big Name to Avoid – 2012 OneMain Financial 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

There is no doubt that Sam Hornish Jr. has enjoyed his best season as a driver in on both the Nationwide and Cup levels. However, Dover remained a trouble spot when the Nationwide Series visited the track in June. Hornish salvaged a top-15 finish, but unlike most weeks when he is fighting for a top-five, he wasn’t a factor at the front of the field at Dover. Expect some minor improvements, but Hornish has a lot of work to do before he is going to conquer the concrete oval.
