2012 NRA American Warrior 300 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Sleepers

2012 NRA American Warrior 300 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Sleepers to Win NRA American Warrior 300: While Cup drivers enter some Nationwide races because of sponsorship obligations and other because they want the extra seat time, big names often show up at Atlanta Motor Speedway out of pure enjoyment. With its high speeds and multiple grooves, the track is a throwback to old school racing. Drivers with fast cars are able to make passes, and the best cars usually end up battling it out for the win.

Last year, Cup drivers dominated the action. Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards all led more than 20 laps, and the four combined to lead all but eight laps of the event. In the end, Edwards was the best of the bunch, leading 101 of the 195 laps, winning the race from the pole. It was his second career Nationwide win at Atlanta.

The Favorites – 2012 NRA American Warrior 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

When Kevin Harvick shows up at Atlanta in the Nationwide Series, he is usually a seriously factor for the win. In his last five starts at the track, he has five finishes of fourth or better and has compiled a 2.6 average finish. During the stretch, Harvick has a win and a pair of runner-up finishes. It is all but a lock that he will be battling for the win this weekend.

Atlanta is actually one of the few tracks where Kyle Busch has never won in the Nationwide Series, but he sure has been close. He has five finishes of third or better at the track, including four second-place finishes. In fact, Busch has finished second in three straight Nationwide races at Atlanta. It is a matter of when and not if he will finally get to Victory Lane.

The Dark Horses – 2012 NRA American Warrior 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Although he has never won at Atlanta, Brad Keselowski has had plenty of strong runs at the track. He has actually finished 12th or better in four straight starts, cracking the top 10 three times during the stretch. More importantly, he has dominated the 1.5-mile tracks in the Nationwide Series in recent years. Keselowski could easily add Atlanta to his list of conquests this weekend.

In 10 career Nationwide starts at Atlanta, Kasey Kahne has compiled a solid 9.6 average finish. He has cracked the top 10 in six of those starts and has four top-five finishes, as well. Kahne has actually never won a Nationwide race at Atlanta, but he does own a pair of Cup Series wins at the track. As well as he runs at Atlanta in both series, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win both the Nationwide and Cup race this weekend.

Sleeper Specials – 2012 NRA American Warrior 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Defending race winner Carl Edwards isn’t in the field this weekend, but Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will try to make it two wins in a row for Roush Fenway Racing at the track. For his part, Stenhouse has finished in the top 10 in both of his Nationwide starts at Atlanta, including a third-place run last year. After being in the mix for a win in just his second start at the track, he could have what it takes to upset the big names this weekend.

Rookie Austin Dillon has slipped a little in the championship battle, but he is still more than capable of winning races. The young driver has shown a natural feel for the fast, 1.5-mile ovals, and his first-career Nationwide win came in dominating fashion at Kentucky. Atlanta shares a similar layout to Kentucky, which bodes well for Dillon’s chances of getting to Victory Lane.

Big Name to Avoid – 2012 NRA American Warrior 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

For whatever reason, Denny Hamlin just hasn’t run well at Atlanta in the Nationwide Series. He has a 27.0 average finish in two career starts, and he has failed to crack the top 15 in both events. Hamlin is proven winner at both the Cup and Nationwide level, and his Joe Gibbs Racing equipment is among the best in both series. The recipe for success is there, but his past results don’t inspire a lot of optimism.
