2012 5-Hour Energy 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Sleepers to Win 5-Hour Energy 200: NASCAR betting odds to win the 2012 5-Hour Energy 200 this Saturday, June 2nd at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks with Joey Logano having been installed as the 2/1 +200 favorite to win the 2012 5-Hour Energy 200.

In the past, Nationwide Series event at Dover have featured a healthy mix of Cup drivers pulling double duty and series regulars. However, this weekend’s 5-Hour Energy 200 will feature only a couple of Cup drivers, making it one of the more wide-open races at the track in recent memory. For bettors, the lack of big names opens the door for a potential upset win. Since those are few and far between in Nationwide races, this is one race that bettors will want to take advantage of.

Last spring, pole-sitter Carl Edwards took advantage of a strong car and huge mistake by his two biggest competitors to pick up the win. He did lead a race-high 87 laps, but Joey Logano, Clint Bowyer and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. all led more than 30 laps each, as well. However, Logano and Bowyer made contact on the second attempt of a green-white-checkered finish, triggering a violent wreck that sent cars flipping and left Edwards unchallenged.

In the fall event, Edwards didn’t need a late wreck to secure the win. He dominated from start to finish, leading 179 of the 200 laps. It was the second year in a row that a driver had swept both Nationwide races at Dover. Kyle Busch accomplished the feat in 2010.

The Favorites – 2012 5-Hour Energy 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

He has been piling up Nationwide wins in 2012, and Joey Logano enters this weekend’s race as the hottest driver in the field. In six Dover starts in the series, he has yet to finish outside the top 15, while compiling a solid 8.3 average finish. Logano has finished as high as second on two occasions, and with very few Cup regulars double dipping, this is a golden opportunity to pick up a win.

His lone start at Dover in the Nationwide Series resulted in a third-place finish, and Kurt Busch could top that Saturday. His Kyle Busch Motorsports team is suddenly flexing some serious muscle and contending for wins on a weekly basis. More importantly, Busch is one of only two Cup regulars in the field this weekend, and his experience alone should give him an edge. After all, he did win a Cup race at Dover last fall.

The Dark Horses – 2012 5-Hour Energy 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Point-leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has been solid all season long, and he will look to stay atop the standings this weekend at Dover. Last year, he made some big strides at the track, picking up a pair of top-five finishes. Since Stenhouse has done nothing but improve and mature over the last year, there is no reason to expect that he can’t make a serious run at a win Saturday.

After taking a big chunk out of the point lead last weekend, Elliott Sadler will try to close the gap even further at Dover Saturday. He finished sixth and 14th at the track last, and while those results aren’t amazing, they aren’t bad either. Sadler has left little doubt over the last season and a half that he is the biggest threat to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. With two wins under his belt already in 2012, last year’s championship runner-up is better than ever.

Sleeper Specials – 2012 5-Hour Energy 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Rookie Austin Dillon has been running like an experienced veteran all season, and the only thing his resume is lacking is a win. Granted, Dillon has never made a Nationwide start at Dover, but the same can be said for just about every track on the schedule, and it hasn’t slowed him down. Dillon is just 28 points out of the top spot in the standings, and he has six top-five finishes and eighth top-10s in 11 starts. With most of the Cup regulars sitting this one out, Dillon could jump on the opportunity.

ARCA standout Parker Kligerman will be making his Dover debut in the Nationwide Series this weekend, but he has reason to be optimistic. He will be driving for the same Penske Racing team that helped Brad Keselowski notch four finishes of third or better, including a win, at Dover in the series. No, Kligerman is not on the same level as Keselowski, but at the very least, he will have excellent equipment and a strong setup to fall back on.

Big Name to Avoid – 2012 5-Hour Energy 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

In six starts at Dover, Justin Allgaier has managed a mediocre 16.5 average finish. He does have three top-10s in those six starts, but he has never finished better than ninth. Allgaier has been having a down year by his standards anyway, and at a track where he has never been an elite option to begin, his chances of winning are almost nonexistent.
