2011 TUMS Fast Relief 500 Picks: Betting on Underdogs for Big Payoffs

2011 TUMS Fast Relief 500 Expert Picks: Betting on Underdogs for Big Payoffs – How to Bet on the 2011 TUMS Fast Relief 500: Upset winners at Martinsville Speedway haven’t exactly gone hand in hand recently. Three drivers have combined to win 12 of the last 14 races at the track, and Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin are the only drivers to win during the stretch without a series title to their name. In other words, Martinsville winners have not only been few in number, but they have been the big names of the sport as well. While a surprise winner may not be likely this weekend, it is always possible. Two drivers that could accomplish the feat are Joey Logano and Jeff Burton.

Logano has been flying under the radar at Martinsville, but his stats stack up with the big names. He has four straight top-15 finishes at the track, and he has a 13.0 average finish in five career starts. That mark is good enough for fifth among active drivers. More importantly, Logano has finished as high as second at the track, and he finished a strong sixth at Martinsville last fall.

The young driver also has the benefit of driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte are among the former winners at Martinsville for the organization, and current driver Denny Hamlin has won four times at the track, including three times in the last four races. In the one race Hamlin failed to win, fellow JGR driver Kyle Busch led the most laps. The JGR organization has one of the best flat track programs in the Cup Series today, and Logano has already taken advantage. At his current 40/1 odds, he could be a steal for bettors this weekend.

Meanwhile, Burton already knows what it feels like to win at Martinsville, but then again, he may have forgotten because it has been more than a decade. That being said, he has still managed to average a top-15 finish at the track since the start of the 2001 season, and he has finished as high as third during the stretch. Not to mention the fact that bettors don’t have to think back too far to recall the last time Burton had a legit chances at winning at Martinsville.

In fact, he led the most laps in both races at the track in 2010. In the spring event, Burton was closing in on leader Denny Hamlin in the closing laps. However, he cut a tire while making his charge to the front and was forced to make an additional pit stop. Hoping to avoid the same issue in the fall, Burton stayed out for track position late in the race. He didn’t cut a tire, but he simply wore out the ones he did have and slipped from the top spot. Despite failing twice to close the deal, Burton was at least in the mix. At his current 30/1 odds, bettors could do a lot worse.
