2011 Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites to Win and Drivers to Watch

2011 Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win Good Sam RV Insurance 500 at Pocono Raceway: NASCAR betting odds to win the Good Sam RV Insurance 500 this Sunday, August 7th at Pcono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks with Denny Hamlin having been installed as the +450 favorite to win the 2011 Good Sam RV Insurance 500.

Just six races remain before the start of the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup, and a return trip to Pocono could cloud the already jumbled playoff picture. Denny Hamlin and Greg Biffle are currently outside the top 10, but both have won at Pocono in the past. Meanwhile, Paul Menard just added his name to the list of first-time winners that could end up stealing a wildcard spot in this year’s postseason. In short, this weekend’s race is going to be the start of a very interesting month and a half of racing.

Last August, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson dominated a majority of the event combining to lead 135 of the 200 laps. Johnson led a race-high 96 laps and appeared to be in position to win until a late caution. When most of the leaders opted to take four tires, Greg Biffle and others decided to take just two. Biffle used the clean air to pull away from the field and steal away a victory.

Earlier this year, four of Pocono’s best took turns at the front of the field. Denny Hamlin led a race-high 76 laps, and Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch and Juan Pablo Montoya all led more than 30 laps. In the end, a cut tire eliminated Hamlin from the mix, leaving Gordon and Busch to battle it out. A fast pit stop put the No. 24 out front for the final restart, and the clean air carried him to Victory Lane.

The Favorites – 2011 Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Lines and Odds

He led the most laps at Pocono in June, but a cut tire late in the race ruined Denny Hamlin’s chances at a win. Still, he is a four-time winner at the track, and he has finished sixth or better in eight of his 11 starts at the track. Since joining the Cup Series, no driver has been more productive at the 2.5-mile track than Hamlin.

Fuel mileage cost him a win last weekend at Indy, but Jeff Gordon has a chance to rebound by completing a season sweep at Pocono this weekend. He cruised to a win at the track in June, giving him nine top-15 finishes in his last 10 starts. Gordon has dominated the flat tracks this season, winning at Pocono and Phoenix. He also had dominant cars at New Hampshire and Indy.

In 19 starts at Pocono, Jimmie Johnson has finished outside the top 15 only once. The two-time winner has finished in the top 10 in seven of his last eight starts as well, including a fourth-place finish earlier this year. Johnson has just one win in 2011, but anyone that has watched NASCAR the last five years knows that Johnson does most of his winning in August and beyond. Watch out for the start of something special.

Pocono was never his best track early in his career, but Kevin Harvick flipped a switch last season at the 2.5-mile track. He finished fourth in both races in 2010, and he kept the momentum going this season with a fifth-place run in June. A win at Pocono once seemed out of the question for Harvick, but now it seems like it is only a matter of time.

Although he came up a bit short at Pocono in June, Kurt Busch’s second-place finish was the fifth of his career at the track. Throw in his two trips to Victory Lane, and he has finished first or second at Pocono on seven occasions. Busch has been running well the last two months of the year, and should be in the mix for the win once again this weekend.

He has yet to win at an oval track, but Juan Pablo Montoya has delivered plenty of solid finishes at Pocono. He has an 8.2 average finish at the track in his last five starts, finishing in the top 10 four times. Montoya has finished as high as second at Pocono, and he finished a solid seventh earlier this year. Outside of the road courses, Pocono may be his best track.

Momentum counts for something in NASCAR, and no driver has more than Paul Menard. Fresh of his Brickyard upset, he heads to Pocono in search of his third straight top-15 finish at the track. With a little confidence boost and little luck like he had last weekend, Menard just may be able to pull off another surprise.

Big Names to Avoid – 2011 Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Odds and Predictions

While Matt Kenseth has been very solid at Pocono, he isn’t a likely candidate to reach Victory Lane. He has never won at the track, and he has gone 10 straight races without finishing in the top five. Plain and simple, Kenseth just isn’t an elite option at Pocono.

He has just three top-10 finishes in 17 career starts at Pocono, and Jamie McMurray has never finished in the top five at the track. Not to mention the fact he has finished 20th or worse in his last four attempts. Throw in the fact that McMurray is having a miserable year, and there isn’t much to get excited about.
