Free MLB Picks, Tips and Odds: St Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Favorite, Moneyline, Total and Expert Predictions 6/11/11: Chris Carpenter might be the most underrated pitcher in the game right now, but his stats this season are not helping his cause. The veteran Cardinals hurler will take to the mound tonight in hopes that he can pick up his second win of the season and turn the tide on his early season struggles. The St. Louis Cardinals (38-27) has positioned themselves back into the penthouse in the NL Central ranks with an explosive month of May, but they stand only 1.5 games up on the charging Brewers. Conceivably, the Cardinals could stand to relinquish the lead in the NL Central to the Brewers if they lose the next two games in this 3 game set. The Cardinals posses a powerful lineup across the board but their most feared offensive units has not been living up to expectations thus far in the season. Albert Pujols, the most feared hitter in the game not named Bautista, is only carrying a .278 average and 14 round trippers on the campaign. Now, those numbers are as solid as the next guy, but Albert Pujols has the potential to have numbers much greater then those and his production is without a doubt faltering to this point. Lance Berkman is picking up where Pujols is not and is having himself a career year. He is fifth in the NL with a .324 batting average and is tied for third in the NL for homers, he has done all of this while already missing 12 games do to injury and soreness. A highly sought after player this past off-season, Berkman is making the Cardinals brass very smart in their decision to pick up the talented first basemen.

The Milwaukee Brewers are proving with each passing game why they are the dark-horse to play in the World Series this year. They have a lineup of outcast stars supported by young, talented positional players. Their pitching rotation has leaped great strides with the acquisitions of Shaun Marcum and Zach Greinke and they are now, finally, getting significant production from the bull-pen. They are without a doubt tooled and geared to contend for the NL Central and greater this season and it is all thanks to a support and facilitating Brewers brass that went out this past offseason and brought in some key players. Ryan Braun has re-emerged as an all-star and he is giving new adage to the old term “the best trade you make is the one you don’t”. It was no secret at the trading deadline last season and all throughout this past winter that Ryan Braun was up for dealing. His production was significantly down last season and his contract was heavy, but he had shown in years past that he has all-star potential and he is just entering his prime. Skip forward to present day and Braun has 14 dingers on the season, complemented by a .309 batting average and 47 RBI. Braun, Fielder, Weeks, and Hart are forming one of the most dangerous front four hitters in the entire league.

Tonight we will recommend a play on the surging Milwaukee Brewers(Check latest odds and lines at BetGuardian Sportsbook) who will look to leap to within a half game of the NL Central leading Cardinals. Zach Greinke will get the ball on the mound tonight for the Brewers, he will be looking for his sixth victory on the season. After a rather slow start to the season, Zach is re-tooling himself into the MVP caliber pitcher he was two years ago in Kansas City. He is 5-1 in his last seven starts and is doing most of his damage by way of strike out. In those 5 wins he has counted for 36 strikeouts and 6 base on balls. He loves to pound the strike zone with a plethora of high-velocity pitches and he rarely finds himself in jams. The Cardinals send Chris Carpenter to the mound tonight, a pitcher who also posses all-star caliber stuff but has not gotten the results up to this point. We will consider the NL Central getting a little more tighter near the top after tonight, go with the Brew Crew at home. Cheers!
