Week 11 Free College Football Picks and Spreads: Auburn Tigers @ Georgia Bulldogs 2011 NCAA Football Vegas Odds, Free Picks, and Expert Predictions on CBS Saturday 11/12/11: It’s a new week, and another pivotal SEC game is on the schedule. This time, conference title implications are on the line when the 20th-ranked Auburn Tigers (6-3) head to Athens to face the 15th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (7-2). The matchup is of the utmost importance to the Bulldogs, who currently have the inside track to win the SEC East. However, a loss to the Tigers would turn control of the division over to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Georgia is a 12 ½-point favorite in this one.

The key to the Bulldogs’ resurgence this season has been the play of sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray. He put himself on the map with a 24-touchdown campaign last season, and he has already thrown 23 touchdown passes this year. Murray may just be the best QB in the SEC, and he is constantly improving. He already has pro scouts drooling, and he is quickly having the same effect on Georgia fans as he leads a winning streak that stands at seven games entering Saturday’s contest.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have been a train wreck at the quarterback spot. Barrett Trotter and Clint Moseley have both started games, and neither player has been able to separate themselves and become the heir apparent to Cam Newton. In fact, the Tigers’ offense has been getting worse as the year progresses. Auburn has scored 17 points or less in four of their last five games. The lone bright spot was a four-touchdown effort from Moseley during an easy win against Ole Miss.

On paper, the Bulldogs have a clear edge. Murray and company are 26th in the country in terms of points scored, putting up nearly 35 a game. They have a balanced offensive attack that ranks in the top 50 in both rushing and passing. The Tigers can’t boast the same type of production, scoring just more than 26 points per game and ranking outside the top 100 in terms of throwing the ball. That being said, Auburn does run the ball well thanks in large part to sophomore running back Michael Dyer. He is just 11 yards short of reaching 1,000, and he has already scored nine times.

Defensively, Georgia ranks better as well. At just under 20 points a game, the Bulldogs’ defense is a top-25 unit. After giving up 35 or more points in the first two games of the year, Georgia has held opponents to 16 points or less in five of the last seven games. Meanwhile, the Tigers rank right in the middle of the road when it comes to stopping opponents. They currently give up almost 28 points per game, and for the year, the defense has given up 30 or more points on five occasions.

The X-factor in the game could be Georgia running back Isaiah Crowell. The freshman leads the team in rushing at almost 700 yards for the year. When he is running the ball effectively, Murray and the passing game becomes that much more effective. Crowell has topped 80 yards in four of his last six starts, and the Bulldogs have won every game.

While the Bulldogs have an advantage on both sides of the ball, they haven’t exactly had a history of blowing out opponents this season. Georgia hasn’t beaten an SEC team by more than 14 points, and three of the team’s five conference wins have come by eight points or less. Not to mention the fact that Auburn’s three losses have come to Clemson, Arkansas and LSU, and all three teams are currently ranked in the top 10 in the country. In other words, the Tigers are battle tested, and they should be able to hang around against a Georgia team that hasn’t been burying any of its SEC opponents.
