2011 Mountain West Football Predictions and Free Picks – Odds to Win 2011 MWC Football Championship

2011 Mountain West Conference Football Odds, Free Picks and Expert Predictions – Mountain West Championship Vegas Odds and Vegas Betting Lines: Las Vegas oddsmakers have posted the preseason odds to win the 2011 Mountain West Conference College Football Championship and they are now out and posted LIVE on NSAwins.com and vegas linemakers have installed Boise St the -350 favorite to win the 2011 Mountain West Conference College Football Conference Championship followed by TCU at +250 odds.

Of all the conferences in college football, the Mountain West may have undergone the biggest overhaul this offseason. Traditional contenders Utah and BYU left to pursue greener pastures with the Cougars opting to be independent and the Utes joining the PAC-12. Despites the losses, the Mountain West didn’t exactly come away empty handed.

The Boise State Broncos will be newcomers to the conference this season, pairing with TCU to form the arguably the best duo of BCS busters since the system was implemented. Both programs have been in the mix for national titles in recent years, and both have knocked off major conference opponents in bowl games. In short, the Mountain West could become the biggest little conference in the country, at least until he Horned Frogs depart for the Big East next year.

The Favorites – 2011 Mountain West Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

If not for a slip up against Nevada, Boise State may have played for the national title last season. Instead, the Broncos missed out on a BCS bowl and had to settle for a 12-win season. With 14 starters back this year, including starting quarterback Kellen Moore and three offensive linemen, Boise State should be right back in the mix for a conference title and a trip to a BCS bowl. Moore is an incredible 38-2 as a starter, and if he can guide the Broncos by TCU, the 2011-12 season will be something special.

Last year, the TCU Horned Frogs capped an undefeated season with a victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. The win finally gave the program the recognition it has deserved for several seasons, and thanks to TCU’s stout defense, the Horned Frogs should make some noise again in 2011-12. Starting QB Andy Dalton is off to the NFL, but with a strong running game and a defense that helped TCU outgain its opponents on offense by more than 300 yards last season, the Horned Frogs will be just fine. The showdown with Boise State will likely determine which team grabs a BCS bid.

Potential Sleepers – 2011 Mountain West Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

The Air Force Falcons went 9-4 last year, but they were clearly on the verge of being an 11-win type of team. The Falcons lost three close games, including a near upset of Oklahoma. Armed with a running game that always seems to give opponents fits, Air Force should be a tough team to beat once again in 2011-12. The Falcons will likely come up short against the top teams in the conference, but with a few lucky breaks, this is one team capable of stealing the Mountain West crown.

When it comes to skill position talent, San Diego State has as much as any team in the conference. One the ground and through the air, the Aztecs have big time playmakers on offense. Starting quarterback Ryan Lindley may be the best in school history, and sophomore running back Ronnie Hillman has star written all over him. Last year, Hillman cracked 1,500 yards and punched in 17 scores. The Aztecs don’t have the defense to win the conference title, but they will put up points and could play spoiler.

Team to Avoid – 2011 Mountain West Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

After making and winning a bowl game in 2009, the Wyoming Cowboys crashed down to earth last season. The team won just three games, and the outlook for 2011-12 isn’t much better. The Cowboys lose their starting quarterback for an offense that wasn’t all that potent to begin with. Wyoming probably won’t be back to a bowl game anytime soon.
