2012 Conference USA Tournament Odds and Predictions to Win 2012 CUSA Tournament – 2012 CUSA Championship Favorites, Sleepers, Schedule and TV Listings plus Expert Picks: In its prime, Conference USA was one of the better conferences in the country. Of course, realignment has since changed that, and C-USA is now an afterthought when the power conferences are mentioned. In fact, C-USA as a whole managed just a single win against a top-25 team this season. As a result, only a couple of teams will probably end up making the NCAA tournament out of C-USA.

The Favorite – 2012 CUSA Tournament Odds, Predictions and Expert Picks

Although they went winless against opponents ranked in the top 25, the Memphis Tigers (23-8) were hands down the top team in Conference USA. Memphis was the top-scoring team in the conference, averaging more than 75 points per game, and the Tigers rank fifth in the country in field goal percentage. Sophomore guard Will Barton leads the high-powered offense, averaging more than 18 points per game. The Tigers are the most athletic team in C-USA, and it showed during the regular season. There is no reason Memphis can’t roll through the conference tournament, as well.

The Dark Horses – 2012 CUSA Tournament Odds, Predictions and Expert Picks

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (24-7) aren’t all that impressive on paper, but they get it done in the win column where it counts. Southern Miss finished second in C-USA and actually won more games overall than any team in the conference. The Golden Eagles are a deep team, with six players averaging at least nine points per game. That being said, they shoot just 41.8 percent from the field as a team, and their offense can be inconsistent at times. When Southern Miss is on top of its game, it is easy to see why this was a 24-win team. The Golden Eagles are a dangerous team in the C-USA tournament.

Life on the bubble is never fun, and the UCF Knights (21-9) are dealing with the pressure as they enter the C-USA tournament. An early win against defending national champ Connecticut is a nice resume builder, but the Knights need a deep run in the conference tournament to ensure a spot in the NCAA tournament. Although UCF never went on a tear during the regular season, the Knights did finish third in the standings. With a solid inside-outside combination from forward Keith Clanton and guard Marcus Jordan and the motivation of playing for their NCAA tournament lives, the Knights will be ready to go.

Sleeper Special – 2012 CUSA Tournament Odds, Predictions and Expert Picks

Despite finishing below 0.500 for the year, the UAB Blazers (14-15) have one thing working in their favor during the conference tournament. The Blazers have the stingiest defense in the conference, holding opponents to less than 62 points per game. Of course, UAB is equally as inefficient on the offensive end, but by forcing teams to play at their slower pace, the Blazers have a way of keeping games close. In close games in a tournament setting, anything can happen.
