Free Week 3 College Football and Week 2 NFL Picks for Sept 18-20 from “The Pigskin Guy”

Free Football Picks from FSR Blog writer David E(aka “The Pigskin Guy”)

I am back to post my FREE NFL and College Football picks once again this year on the blog. Had a great NCAAF season last year winning 63% of my plays here on FSR but treaded water in the NFL winning just 53%. Let’s try and get both over 60% this season. Let’s go…

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for Saturday 9/18/10

Utah St +3.5(College) – Johnny Public loves Fresno St in this matchup but like ESPN’s Lee Corso likes to say, “not so fast my friends!”. The Aggies are not bad and have beaten Fresno two of the last three meetings in Utah. This spread has come down from an opening number of 5 despite the public being over 60% on Fresno so I am liking this play even more. Take those points.

Virginia Tech -20(College) – The Hokies are 0-2 and guess what? The East Carolina Pirates are going to get their cans kicked because of it. Va Tech is too good and too ticked off to not come out and cream an overmatched ECU team today. Virginia Tech will lay the wood by 5 plus touchdowns.

Boise St -23.5(College) – The Broncos are serious about making an undefeated run and getting into the BCS Championship Game despite naysayers nationwide saying their schedule is too soft. The only way they can get in is by completely dominating every team on their schedule. It starts today with an easy rout over Wyoming. Lay the points.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for Sunday 9/19/10

Jets +3(NFL) – The entire universe is loving New England this week against the Jets and their anemic offense. Not the PIGSKIN GUY! No sir, the PIGSKIN GUY loves to go against the grain and this game is the perfect oppurtunity. Big rivalry game, Jets needing a win and the Patriots playing on the road for the 1st time after they were AWFUL away from home last season. New England has to prove it to me before I hitch my wagon to them as road chalk.

Dallas -7(NFL) – The Bears should have lost last week but they won’t have any problem losing this week. They will be out of the game early. Dallas coming off of a tough opening loss at Washington will lay the wood on an overrated Chicago outfit in Big D.

Detroit +6.5(NFL) – It’s going to be a long year in Philly if the plan is to have Mike Vick leading the troops. Ya ya, he’ll wow the masses with an extraordinary play here and there, but at the end of the day he is still a running back playing the QB position. Detroit should be 1-0 but are 0-1 like usual. I like them to give Philly all it can handle and maybe even win outright this week.

Baltimore -2.5(NFL) – The Bengals went 2-0 against the Ravens last year and 6-0 in the division. If it brings the same act it brung last week in Foxboro this week against Baltimore than it will find itself 0-2 and having a nice look up at Baltimore the rest of the season. Well, guess what? That’s what is going to happen because Baltimore is geared up for a Super Bowl run and Cincinnati looks to be on it’s way to being one of the NFL’s biggest dissapointments this season.

Green Bay -13(NFL) – The Packers lost Ryan Grant for the season but that won’t be an issue this week against another AWFUL version of the Buffalo Bills this 2010 season. How does ANYONE actually fork over their hard earned money to pay for Buffalo tickets in upstate New York? God bless those poor souls who have nothing better to do than watch TRASH play football every sunday in the cold. Green bay romps at Lambeau this week.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free NFL Picks for Monday 9/19/10

49ers +6 – Like my red hot colleague Stephen G. said in his weekly picks post, I have to fade Johnny Public in this spot. Every down and out gambler will be looking to ride the Saints monday night to recoup their sunday losses and this line just looks like a trap. The 49ers will come to play and keep things close.

McNabb Trade a Heist for the Redskins – Donovan McNabb vs Kevin Kolb NFL Prop Betting Odds

donovan-mcnabb-redskins-oddsUnless Philadelphia Eagles management and ownership know something that I do not, than they are going to regret this past sunday’s decision to trade starting quarterback Donovan McNabb to a division rival in desperate need of an upgrade at quarterback, the Washington Redskins. Seriously, what the hell was Philadelphia thinking giving a division rival a pro bowl caliber quarterback for a 2nd rd pick(#37 overall) and a 3rd or 4th round pick next season? It just makes no sense. If they were scared off from trading McNabb to the Oakland Raiders or Buffalo Bills because of rumors that they were told by sources close to Donovan that he would retire before he played for either one of those two teams, than shame on them. If he retired than so what? You got the guy you decided you no longer wanted off of your team and there wasn’t anything you could do to get anything in return. Ideal? No. However, there was only one thing you could have done worse. And that’s trade him to a division rival! The roll of the dice that the Eagles are taking in giving new Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan a QB he can build around for the next 2-3 years while the Eagles are forced to play their former franchise QB twice a year and hope that 4th year QB Kevin Kolb can replace McNabb and play at a pro bowl level in Philadelphia is not good business. Pro bowl caliber quarterbacks are a steal for any team that only has to surrender a 2nd and 3rd or 4th round draft pick. It’s a flat out heist when you get the pro bowl caliber QB for that little from a division rival! The Redskins got the better end of this trade and it’s not even close. Vegas odds on Donovan McNabb and Kevil Kolb NFL Prop Bets are now posted on NSAwins.com for NFL prop betting. You can bet on any of these props at BoDog Sportsbook and get a 10% NO-LIMIT SIGN UP BONUS on your 1st deposit! View the complete list of McNabb vs Kolb NFL props hot off the press below:

Brett Favre Chokes Again, Super Bowl XLIV Picks and NBA All Star Voting is a Joke

Sports the Way I See It… From My Couch(1st Edition of 2010!)

Brett Fraud…err…Favre CHOKES Yet Again!
Another season, another epic Brett Favre gag job. Spare me the excuses for this guy already ok? I know, I know, there was no “guarantee” that the Vikings field goal kicker was going to kick a 56 yard field goal or that Favre would have been able to get it any closer than that had he tucked the ball and tried to run instead of throwing his patented idiotic throw into coverage with the game for the taking on sunday. Guess what? We’ll never know because the DIVA didn’t give his team the chance! In my eyes the Vikings would have had at least a 25% chance of nailing that kick. Longwell has the leg and he is one of the best kickers in the league from 50 yards plus. If I’m a Vikings fan, player or coach I am putting that loss on Favre. That interception completely took the air out of the Vikings and also gave the Saints life. Hate to say I told you so but I did. The guy is a GAGGER in the BIG games. Period.

Super Bowl XLIV… Can the Saints Defense Keep this Game Entertaining?
I have been saying all season the Saints are a FRAUD and to their credit they have proved me wrong… so far. However, after what I watched sunday against the Vikings, I simply have no faith in their defense being able to shut down Peyton Manning at all. The Saints defense is BRUTAL when they are not forcing turnovers. Manning can and will pick them apart. And unless Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and company bring butter on their gloves Super Bowl sunday, than I don’t expect the Colts to turn the ball over 4 plus times like the Vikings did this past sunday. Has anyone else realized the Saints still needed overtime AT HOME to beat Minnesota after getting all those turnovers? That is not likely to happen on Super Bowl sunday and that’s why the Colts should win by double digits.

NBA All Star Game Voting is a JOKE!
When Allen Iverson is a starter for the Eastern Conference in this year’s NBA All Star Game than it’s time to rethink the voting process, ok? What a joke. There is a reason why the NBA stands for “Nothing But Assholes”. Apparently, it trickles down to the fans. Now we know how this bonehead president we got in office got voted in. Must be the same MORONS that voted Allen Iverson in as a starter for the All Star Game! Was Rajon Rondo, Derek Rose and Mo Williams not on the ballot for these idiots? Because all three of those guys are vastly superior to AI these days. The NBA needs to get it’s act together. From the crooked refs to the all star game voting, it’s apparent this league can care less about the integrity of the game.

Free NFL Picks for 1/3/10 from “The Pigskin Guy”

Free Football Picks from FSR Blog writer David E(aka “The Pigskin Guy”)

1-1 in Bowl plays yesterday. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009-10 NCAAF SEASON RECORD: 30-17-1 64%
2009-10 NFL SEASON RECORD: 53-45-3 54%
2009-10 SEASON OVERALL: 83-62-2 57%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for Sunday 1/3/2010

Buffalo -8 – The Colts will be resting all their key players and will actually rather lose today to avoid the questions all postseason and offseason about what could have been if they end up winning the super bowl with only the Jets debacle on their resume.

Miami +3 – Pittsburgh has been living on the edge for awhile and nothing leads me to believw they have what it takes to go on the road and handle their business. Miami plays spoiler today.

Kansas City +10 – Not only do I expect the Cheifs to cover but I expect them to win. Denver has been fading for the last 10 weeks and KC is out for revenge after Denver rubbed their noses in it in a lopsided Denver road win last month. KC gets it done.

Houston -7 – New England will be playing the scrubs and those scrubs are just that… scrubs. Houston, if they have any backbone at all, will find a way to beat the New England jayvee team by double digits today.

Cincinnati +10 – Just a hunch, but I bet Cincy will be playing their regulars longer than expected tonight after New England loses this afternoon. Cincy would love to grab the #3 seed and hope to go out west and play San Diego in a rematch instead of the Colts in the Divisional round. Cincy will play tough tonight.

Great start to 2010 yesterday going 5-0 100% on my New Years Day Bowl plays. Let’s keep it rolling today. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009-10 NCAAF SEASON RECORD: 29-16-1 64%
2009-10 NFL SEASON RECORD: 53-45-3 54%
2009-10 SEASON OVERALL: 82-61-2 57%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for Saturday 1/2/2010

Oklahoma St +3 – The Cowboys are the play today. Ole Miss is just 2-3 away from home this year with those two wins coming against awful Vanderbilt and Memphis squads. Simply put, Ole Miss is just not that good when you take them out of Oxford. Okla St ended their season with a bad 27-0 loss at Oklahoma(what else is new?) but are 3-1 away from home. Oklahoma St handled Georgia from the SEC pretty good back in September and should handle another SEC foe pretty good today.

East Carolina +7.5 – Arkansas has an explosive offense but let’s not overlook ECU’s defense. They’ve only surrendered more than 28 points one time in their last 10 games and will be trying to win 10 games for the 1st time since 1991. ECU is a solid football team folks and should be able to hold their own against an Arkansas team that is terrible defensively.

Free New Years Day College Bowl Picks from “The Pigskin Guy” for 1/1/2010

Free Football Picks from FSR Blog writer David E(aka “The Pigskin Guy”)

Time to close out the season strong with 5 solid New Years Day plays. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009 NCAAF RECORD: 24-16-1 60%
2009 NFL RECORD: 53-45-3 54%
2009 OVERALL: 77-61-2 56%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for New Years Day 1/1/10

Northwestern +9 – Northwestern hasn’t won a bowl game since 1949 but that may come to an end today against a mediocre(at best) Auburn team. Auburn is just 7-5 on the season and has a defense giving up 26.9 ppg. Look for Northwestern to score plenty and at worst keep this one close enough to cover.

Florida St +3 – FSU’s players, fans and alumni will be extremely motivated to send Bobby Bowden off into the sunset as a winner one more time. FSU gets it done.

Penn St Pk – LSU is solid but Penn St’s offense will be a little too much for LSU to keep up with, while Penn St’s stout defense should find a way to contain LSU.

Ohio St +4.5 – I love the Buckeyes today. They will be chomping at the bit to finally breakthrough with a BIG WIN out of conference versus a Top 10 club and they will get it done against a Oregon team that has a dynamic offense but mediocre defense.

Florida -12.5 – You just know Meyer and Tebow want to end it the right way witha BIG WIN and you have to wonder if Cincinnati will be ready considering their coach left them out to dry when his fraud ass took off for Notre Dame. Florida just has too many athletes and speed for Cincy to hang with.

Free Weekly NFL and College Football Picks from “The Pigskin Guy” for 12/27/09-12/28/09

Free Football Picks from FSR Blog writer David E(aka “The Pigskin Guy”)

4-1-2 in NFL last week. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009 NCAAF RECORD: 23-15-1 61%
2009 NFL RECORD: 49-43-3 53%
2009 OVERALL: 72-58-2 55%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for Sunday 12/27/09

Clemson -6.5(College) – Clemson is the better team hands down and will bounce back strong from a disappointing finish to the season with back-to-back losses to Ga Tech and South Carolina.

New England -9.5(NFL) – The Jaguars have lost 3 out of 4 when they had put themselves in prime position to make a playoff run. What leads anyone to believe they will play well today against a good Patriots team in the cold? I don’t see it happening. Pats by 2 TD’s.

NY Giants -9(NFL) – Carolina is up and down every week and now they travel to New York after a surprising win at home versus Minnesota to take on a Giants team that CANNOT lose one more game if they want to make the playoffs. This has ROUT written all over it.

Miami -1(NFL) – Miami can still sneak into the AFC playoffs if they win out and I just don’t see a mediocre Houston team being able to keep it together on the road in a must win game for both teams. The home field will be the deciding factor. Miami by a field goal.

Kansas City +13.5(NFL) – Cincinnati has 9 wins but most have been by the single digit variety. Cincinnati’s offense just hasn’t been able to distance itself from it’s opponents all year and I look for a bad KC team to somehow keep the score to 10 points or less today.

Green Bay -13.5(NFL) – Tough loss last week at Pitt for the Packers and I look for them to take out their frustration on a charmin SOFT Seahags team today. Packers in a BLOWOUT.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’s Football Free Picks for Monday 12/28/09

Texas A&M +7.5(College Football) – I love taking 6-6 bowl teams because they have more to play for than their opponent because a loss would actually give them a losing record on the season. I believe 6-6 teams are undefeated this bowl season and Texas A&M will keep the trend going monday night vs a mediocre Georgia team.

Chicago +7.5(Monday Night NFL) – The Bears are BRUTAL but the weather will be FRIGID and Minnesota, for whatever reason, has struggled mightily at Chicago over the past handful of years. The Vikes win but the Bears keep it close enough to cover.

Free Football Picks from FSR Blog writer David E(aka “The Pigskin Guy”)

3-3 in NFL last week. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009 NCAAF RECORD: 23-14-1 62%
2009 NFL RECORD: 45-42-1 52%
2009 OVERALL: 68-56-2 55%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free Football Picks for Saturday 12/19/09

Fresno St -10.5(College) – Wyoming has no business being in a bowl game. They are 6-6 and get outgained by an average of over 100 yards and outscored by an average of over 10 points per game. They are terrible I’m sorry. Fresno St should run wild over Wyoming and blow the Cowboys out going away.

Dallas +9(NFL) – The Cowboys have been brutal the past few years in December and New Orleans is gunning for a perfect season. That smells of a Saints blowout right? As Lee Corso likes to say, not so fast my friends! The Cowboys will come to play and have the offensive firepower to match New Orleans score for score. The Cowboys defense is pretty good and should keep this one close throughout. I look for a Saints win by 7 points or less.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S Free NFL Picks for Sunday 12/20/09

Pittsburgh -1 – Pittsburgh has too much pride and veterans to simply lay down and quit on the season. Pitt keeps it’s slim playoff hopes alive with a gritty home win over a pretty good Packers team.

Buffalo +7 – Not only will the Bills cover but don’t be surprised if they win the game outright. They should have beaten New England in week 1 and now they can enact some revenge by severely crippling the Pats chances at winning the division with a win over New England in cold Buffalo.

Miami +4 – The Dolphins are as gritty as they come and have been fighting tooth and nail to somehow win the East and get back in the playoffs the past month. I look for the Fish to win this game or at the very least lose by just a FG.

Oakland +14 – The Raiders are getting a ton of points here and I don’t think Denver is good enough to lay 2 TD’s against anyone. The Raiders will want to ruin Denver’s playoff hopes and will come to play sunday.

49ers +9 – The 49ers can still get in the playoffs if they win out and will give Philly all it can handle sunday. Take the points.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S NFL Football Free Picks for Monday 12/21/09

Giants -1(Monday Night) – The Gmen absolutely MUST win this game and will pull out all the stops. Plus, how can anyone put their cash on Jason Campbell and Jim Zorn? Not me.

2-1 in NCAAF and 2-4 in NFL last week. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009 NCAAF RECORD: 23-14-1 62%

2009 OVERALL: 65-53-2 55%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S NFL Football Free Picks for Sunday 12/13/09

Cincinnati +6.5 – Cincinnati will look to make a statement today and announce to the rest of the league that they are to be taken seriously.

Miami +1 – Miami might have to win out in order to make the playoffs and a loss today would leave them needing a miracle to capture the East and would also cost them a tiebreaker against Jacksonville should they wind up tied for the same record. Look for Miami to find a way.

Atlanta +10 – New Orleans has been getting lucky quite often the past 5 weeks falling behind and having to storm back for late wins. Sooner or later that is going to cost them a game. It just might be today.

Green Bay -4 – The Bears are brutal and Green Bay just keeps on getting better and better. The Packers will be dangerous once the NFC playoffs begin and Minnesota better hope they don’t have to give the Packers a 3rd shot to beat them. Anyway, the Pack will be too much for the Bears to handle.

Indy -6.5 – The Colts are virually unbeatable at home and I just don’t see how the Donkeys will be able to keep up in this game. Indy can lock up homefield throughout the AFC playoffs today and I expect them to win easily.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S NFL Football Free Picks for Monday 12/14/09

Arizona -3(Monday Night) – This line looks way off so it may be a trap. However, I just can’t see a mediocre 49ers team cooling off a red hot Arizona team that is sky high after rolling over Minnesota last sunday night at home. Lay the points.

Free Weekly College and Pro Football Picks from “The Pigskin Guy” for 12/5/09 thru 12/7/09

Free Football Picks from FSR Blog writer David E(aka “The Pigskin Guy”)

Decent week last week. 2-2 in NCAAF and 6-3 in NFL to produce a solid 8-5 overall last week. Time to close out the College Football regular season strong today and get ready to dominate the bowl season. Let’s get it on! Please note that I am NOT affiliated with the NSAwins.com professional handicapping division. Let’s get back on track this week. Here we go…

2009 NCAAF RECORD: 21-13-1 62%
2009 NFL RECORD: 40-35-1 53%
2009 OVERALL: 61-48-2 56%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S College Football Free Picks for Saturday 12/5/09

Pittsburgh +2.5 – I’ve been saying it for the last few weeks and I believe it. Pittsburgh will beat Cincinnati today. Call me crazy, but I truly feel Pittsburgh is the better football team when it brings it’s “A” game. Forget the loss last week at West Virginia. Sure, it was a rivalry game that Pitt wanted to win, but they had to have been looking ahead to today’s showdown for the BIG EAST title and BCS berth. Look for Pitt’s defense to contain Cincinnati and for Pitt’s ground game on offense to be the difference.

Alabama +5.5 – As Keith Jackson would say, Whoa Nellie we got ourselves a BIG ONE today! What a game this will be. The two best teams in the country battling it out in a winner take all for the SEC title and a BCS championship game berth. Florida still has Meyer and Tebow but Alabama is an improved club from last season’s unit that lost to a better Florida team than this year’s Florida unit and I look for Bama to get their revenge.

California -6.5 – Cal has had two weeks to prepare, get healthy and forget about the HUGE Stanford win and get focused on closing the season strong with a big win at Washington. Cal is 5-1 in it’s last 6 games, while Washington is just 2-6 in it’s last 8 games with one of those wins coming last week against an awful Washington St team. Cal will lay the wood today.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S NFL Football Free Picks for Sunday 12/6/09

Tennessee +7 – Indy continues to fall behind only to come storming back and pull out games by a TD or less in the 4th quarter. Sooner or later that way of doing things is going to end up in the LOSS column. I look for the red hot Titans to be able to run the ball strong behind the dynamic Chris Johnson sunday and for Vince Young to add another notch in his belt with the upset win. Take the points.

Houston Pk – Two mediocre teams battling it out sunday to somehow stay in contention for a AFC wildcard berth. Houston will be seeking revenge for a loss at home earlier this season to Jax and I look for the Texans to snap a 3 game skid.

Kansas City +5 – The Chiefs got blown out again last week against the Chargers but had been playing good ball before that loss. The Donkeys come to town feeling better after beating a SOFT Gmen squad on Thanksgiving night but will have their hands full against a gritty Chiefs team on the road. Look for this one to be a close one with either team winning by a field goal late.

Miami +4.5 – The season is literally on the line sunday for the Dolphins at 5-6. A loss to New England will absolutely put any dreams of making the playoffs in 2009 to rest. It is a MUST WIN game for Miami and they will pull out all the stops. New England is just 1-4 on the road and have struggled in Miami for decades. The fish will get it done.

San Diego -13.5 – The Chargers are rolling and nothing leads me to believe the Brownies will be able to put any kind of stop to it. The Chargers will POUND the Brownies by at least 3 TDs.

THE PIGSKIN GUY’S NFL Football Free Picks for Monday 12/7/09

Green Bay -3(Monday Night) – Big game for both teams but I got to ride with a Green Bay team that I feel is a little bit better on both sides of the ball than a Baltimore team that struggled to beat a Pittsburgh team at home with a rookie QB at the controls.
